Paralyze taming

I've heard conflicting things that paralyze taming makes a pet worse when taming, and others saying it doesn't. Does anyone know for sure?

No, it lowers the cap. If you para tame something that would have a skill cap of 110, it may now be 105

I like to use energy fields and peace. I peace it, put down a field between me and the mob and then spam tame attempts until it starts the tame. I take a lot less damage and a lot less running around.
