No area effect option on training my Giant Beatle

Returning

Visitor
I decided to train up my giant beetle and got him 4-5 and there was no area effect menu available.
No other abilities, special moves, magical stuff had been picked.
Was I missing a step?
I ended up training it with AI, RC and poisoning.
Not really bothered by it but did something change?

if you put poison on, you can pick an aoe after. but RC is the one you want the most uptime on.
depending on what your fighting AI or AP is better (once resists are low enough, doing more damage is better than 90% true damage)

You would not be able to get an area along with AI and RC. Because the only areas require poison first. So the pet would be over full of abilities and magics.

RC and maybe AI if solo. RC is equivalent to mega-discord drops resists of enemy by 50%, so you can blast away with spells, arrows etc, plus direct damage from the pet itself. You want RC uptime max, so you do not want a lot of nonsensical specials. RC does major debuff type of work on enemy. I got poison on mine but back then did not know.

There is another area build for them, but its only really semi-viable in events where ya want to tag a lot of things in hope of Drops like the void pool for hats. It's AI RC FWW( poison is optional but will lower RC up time). There are many draw backs from this build though.. one of which is the massive amount of points diverted from main stats..It can still be a fun build that clips alot of mobs, but there are other pets that tend to fit this niche alittle better. Hope this helps. =^-^=
