From the desk of Maya Demeter:

Maya sat in the oddly formed chair, meant for someone with wings. She
stared at the vials in front of her. It had been a week since the gargoyle
scientists were informed of her desire to work with them. They were most
gracious, allowing her access to everything she needed. This made her
wonder what Gorn was trying to do to her. He seemed very bitter at their
last meeting, like he didn’t want to be there but even more then that. She
just couldn’t quite put her finger on it.

She understood he was in commerce and much of what she said was probably
very boring to him. She felt the same way when he began talking of trades
and money influx. But still the queens had deemed they worked together.

Maya shook her head to clear it and got back to the vials in front of her.
They were quite the conundrum. The samples were incredibly poisonous, but
defiantly had some sort of mutative properties. What sorts her and her
gargoyle counterparts had yet to be brave enough to test on any subject.

In came a messenger, he spoke with the lead scientist and he in turn
pointed to Maya. The messenger quickly walked over to her. She knew him
from the castle.

“M’lady”, he said nearly out of breath, “The Queen bids you come home as
soon as possible.”

“What’s happened?”

“Turkeys M’lady, giant mutant turkeys”, then he paused as he heard a few
chuckles.

“Turkeys?” Maya said surprised. She gave a glance around the room that
quickly quieted the others. “Those only appear once a year and are hardly
giant.”

The breathless messenger handed Maya a scroll imprinted with the royal
insignia. She took it from him and slowly unrolled the scroll

Maya Demeter,

I must ask you to return home immediately. There have been reported
sightings of Giant Turkey’s roaming the land. They do not appear to be
aggressive but the populace is hunting them and finding odd things on
them.

I fear someone has been experimenting with our very small population of
turkeys. Knowing of your work with the gargoyles and testing the mutant
samples, I hope you can come home and do what you do best.

Very Concerned,
Queen Dawn
Maya sat and stared at the scroll for a few moments then turned to the
others.

“I must go back to my queen,” she told them. “There seems to be a problem
in my homeland that may be related to this one here.”

She quickly told the scientist about the turkeys and the reports involving
them. The scientist nodded a wished her well.

“I shall return as soon as I have completed my reports there.”

Maya gathered her things and followed the messenger out the door. “I am to
escort you back to the castle M’Lady.” Maya nodded and followed the man.
