Dates: January 8th and 9th 2011 (1/8/11 - 1/9/11)
Time: 6pm start till 9pm EST
Buy-In: 1 million gold

-Single Elimination until the Finals
-Double Elimination in the Finals
-Grand Champion wins 50mil, an Archdemon Statue, and marble statue of
themselves.

Classes:

Open Bracket: Any template is allowed (10mil base pot)

• Must start on foot
• No followers
• Once the wall drops, anything goes

This bracket will for all intents and purposes be its own tournament and will not be competing for the Finals, or Grand Championship.

Pure Mage: 120 mage req'd (10mil base pot)

• Only mage spells allowed
• No pots
• No apples
• No poison skill
• Equip runebook + lantern (will be provided)

Mage Bracket: Broken down into two classes

Necro Mage: 60 necro req'd (minimum) (10mil base pot)

• No myst spells
• No spellweaving

Myst Mage: 110 myst req'd (minimum) (10mil base pot)

• No necro spells
• No spellweaving

For all mage classes

• No weapon specials (except wrestle)
• No summoning
• No forms
• No protection
• No explosion or conflag potions

Warriors: (10mil base pot)

• No spell casting, except Chiv, Bushido, or Ninjitsu
• No summoning
• No explosion or conflag pots
• No forms

Everyone except for the pure mage class is allowed 3 greater heals, 3 greater cures, and 1 apple. No petals.

Tournament is canceled, I have 4 people officially signed up and another 3 in game who said they would participate. I'm sorry but I will not spend $ to watch 4-5 fights.

fluffy was quite aware of that. He was aware that it was also why people don't do tournies in the way he chose to do it.

And more than that, he was attempting to host a tournament with a small prize on a shard nobody plays seriously. I already proved that you'll get lackluster participation doing this.

I don't understand why the prize should be the focus.
Wouldn't bragging rights be worth more then gold?

I don't pvp myself, but I would love to watch a good tourny style pvp event with mature participants.
( If we knew who was good,and who isn't maybe some of us trammies could get in on that fel trash talk. Lord Urza: You got put out first round in the last tournament!! Why don't you just come play in trammel!! You are one of us!! )

You have to justify entry fees, transfer costs, gear updates, template investments. Dueling mages duel for gold. 100million is typical of a 1v1 prize between 2 average to good pvpers. 1billion for big name pvpers. You have to realize that pvping brings in a lot of gold and major pvpers spend their average evening raiding spawns and harrowers across an entire timezone. Will you spend 40million to transfer to and from a tournament for a night of mostly standing around? Wouldn't you prefer to pvp all night, take in a few million and then log out when you're done? Tournaments are full of time constraints, they're high overhead and they are really only fun to be involved in when you have an exciting prize to fight for.

setting your opponents back a huge amount of gold and funding new pvp characters speaks volumes.

I don't pvp myself, but I would love to watch a good tourny style pvp event with mature participants.

And your average pvper would rather just go pvp.

spend a week spawning, you'll find out who is good pretty easily.

I wasnt speaking in reguard of anyone transfering shards, just pvpers on this shard itself.

I guess im just out of my element talking about pvp, just seems like doing something diffrent once and a while would be more fun then just going out and pvping the same way you do every night.

I imagine some of legends pvpers just dont have the guts to put there abilities on display for everyone to watch.

I'm not sure there is such a thing as pvping on only 1 shard anymore. PvP has been, for years now, cross shard. Most pvpers put 1-2 pvp chars on each shard. You have to transfer characters around for these events.

pvp is different every time. You fight different templates, different situations, different pre-existing conditions.

I imagine some of legends pvpers just dont have the guts to put there abilities on display for everyone to watch.

I do know that the 3 best mages on legends had no idea there was a tournament until this week.

Im not sure what kind of mage class you didnt see any skill in?.? an at this point I really dont care.. Pure mage/necro mage/ and myst.. Id say he had them covered.. anyways if anyone had any intentions at all, all the brainy ideas would have come before it was cancelled and not after..
