[NEWS] Goodbye TSO

The Sims Online, the game we all love, the game we all have had such fun with over its 5 year 2 month Life span. Is finally over. For many this was a sad moment. We waited nervously as we got the 15, 5 and 1 minute warning. In Alphaville I spent the last moments with Honeybunny and Aerith as we held candle-lit cakes to remember the city by. Then I went to my home in East Jerome where I spent the last moments with Mike Rizzo. I sat in my "car" parked at my house and snapshotted the final Error 23 from city view.

I interviewed Aerith on her thoughts about the end of TSO:

So, TSO is finally over, how does this make you feel?
</p>



Aerith: It's depressing. I mean, it's nice to see everyone unite in EA Land but the memories are from the individual cities.
</p>



What is your fondest memory of The Sims Online?
</p>



Aerith: The Memory, was the second day of playing The Sims Online, I was all ready to give up, I didn't know how to play and It was very stressful, and I went to one last welcome home to see if someone would be helpful and give me the hints to help play this game, and I had been called a Newbie at every house I had been too, but [in] Blazing Falls Welcome Home, Rachael Thompson, the owner sat with me for an hour and told me everything about the game. It showed me that even in a game, there are RL people who are really interesting and very helpful. [That] Kept me playing the game for now 5 years. Just because of that one Sim.

What city will you miss the most and why?
</p>



Aerith: Blazing Falls has the attachment from being my first city but I am also very attached to AV because it is where I found the close knit Sim friends that I still see everyday for the past 1-2 years.

I spent the last minutes in AV as well and then dashed back to IH for a final goodbye...parting is such sweet sorrow. *cries*

This post made my eyes water a bit. I'll miss TSO...so far I'm not fond of EA Land at all and don't look forward to logging in every day. TSO at least had some LIFE to it. EA Land *TO ME* has ripped out the life out of TSO. TSO was limiting enough...now its just way beyond limiting, very boring and frustrating *TO ME*. I'll miss TSO as it was...

*snatches up your first picture and carefully stores it in my fond TSO memory folder.

Almost makes me feel bad that I was too busy stuffing pet crates into every nook and cranny during last call, to make take a sentimental moment....

Im so sad and yes in tears over the end of our beloved game. Right now I find it hard to have high hopes for EALand. This is such a sad day. Goodbye BF and AV, Ive had some wonderful times over the last 5 yrs.

I am excited!

I'm only a bit disappointed as of last week I had these delusions of grandeur about taking the time to build up my JP lot so that when it's time to move I'll be all hooked up. I spent about an hour and then life happened... so... now my lot is ghetto fab.

This really summed up my sentiments wonderfully Silverspike. I'm a CC native myself, and we partied on Tuesday to say goodbye to our CC sims and friends as we know them. I will miss TSO a lot. EA Land is not the experience -- so far -- that I have grown to know and love in TSO, so I am especially sad that I can't go back to it any more.

That was a wonderful tribute to TSO. It was home to most of us for a long time. I am truly going to miss the warmth and the smell of fresh baked apple pie....oh wait, that was my other granny's house.

Though individual cities as such are now gone, for me, TSO will always be. They are renaming it EA Land, but hey what plays in EA Land.....Sims and how do they get to play there...they get online....aka TSO.

I spent the last moments of TSO in both BF and AV, running around taking screenshots of my roofs and properties. I also took a screenie of my main 'accountant' sim bank account - I doubt it will ever be that high again rofl....

I don't have much (if any) sentimental value for anything much other than TC1 &amp; casinos. We will miss all of that stuff.

BTW, I *do* see a good side to this: the fact that everyone will be in the same place means that the economy (business wise) should become better.
Other than that, yes, it's sad.

Thanks for vocalizing how I feel. TSO to me is like any other friend who is no longer around on a daily basis....it will never *really* be gone, and even moreso in TSO because we all have the opportunity to carry forward in EA Land, so our lives are not over as sims, we're just displaced to a new *home*. I'm ever hopeful for the future and that others will find peace within the changes

What I will really miss about the old TSO is the unique identity each city had. Now, even though the cities are represented as "suburbs" within EA-Land, they no longer have their own names. They are nothing more than assimilations into the EAL "collective". TSO now feels like a corporate takeover.

I would feel better about all of this if the suburbs were allowed to carry the names of their former cities, that the individual name would appear at the top when zoomed in to "suburb view".

I agree. I will miss the citys. I had a thought though. what if eveyone put their city in the neigborhood spot on their houses. I think I will do that when my homes merge.

I agree with you 100%. I think it would be nicer if the cities could keep their names. I dont see the harm in it at all.
