Last evening was a time for both sadness and celebration at the Catskills Fairgrounds. On one hand we said out last official goodbye to Elder EM Kasaven. Who has been with the Catskills shard from the beginning when they brought back the EM program almost 3 years ago. On the other hand we had our official Meet and Greet with EM Adris while also opening the Catskills Summefest 2011 at the Fairgrounds.
In very disappointing news Elder EM Kasaven announced that his final event planned for this upcoming Sunday was canceled, but he hoped that EM Barnaby and EM Adris could possibly do his planned event at some future date. So those of you who were looking forward to one of Kasavens well know events of death and insurance lose will have to be disappointed. He was not sure when his status as a active EM was being removed, but it is sometime this weekend, so there is a slight chance you may see him game to say goodbye.

Many of you have had the pleasure of meeting EM Adris before the official Meet and Greet as he has wandered our lands taking in the sights and chatting to the fine denizens of our shard for the last few days. The Meet and Greet gave those who had not met him before a chance to get to know our new EM. Taking questions from the gathered crowd he showed some charm and a sense of humor while remaining polite in his answers. He has played UO since 2002, he has role played some, he has a love for in game events, and he hopes to hold events at differing times (Mostly afternoons and evening). He lives in Europe but has stated that his sleep schedule is such that he should be up when the Catskills prime playing time is going on. He has high hopes of running at least one mini event a week and wants to take part in as many player organized events as he can make it to.
As normal for any Meet and Greet EM Adris handed out sashes to the player of the Catskills shard. He gated everyone to a location that he has prepared for it, but a few players could not follow the simple rule of one sash per player so it had to be relocated to the Rewards Hall in Malas. Where EM Adris was kind enough to personally hand each sash out himself. After receiving the sash the player was promptly was removed from the building and could not reenter. Afterwards he was kind enough to stand outside the hall and chat to a small group of the players while making them clothing, out of cloth they provided, with his makers mark on it.

Summerfest 2011 is upon us again and the first two events start today, with others planned to carry on during the week ahead. The first event will be a horse race at the fairground at noon EST (Saturday 11th June) and it should be the first official event on Catskills held by EM Adris. So come out and take part or just show up and show your support for your favorite racer or the new EM. Saturday evening at 7:30 EST EM Barnaby will be holding an archery contest at the Fairgrounds so if you think you are the next Robin Hood maybe you should show up and impress everyone with your skills.
In closing I want to thank EM Kasaven for being our EM and setting the bar so high for all the EMs that follow in your footsteps. EM Adris has some huge shoes to fill to replace you in our hearts, but he is off to a great start, and I am sure he will strive to be as great a EM as you were for us.
