* This note was found nailed to the guard tower near west Britain Bank *
Attention all good citizens:
It has come to our attention during routine general inspection and maintenance performed by the town guards, that the iron portcullis’ at the Poor Gate and Main Gate in Britain (Trammel) have drastically deteriorated over time. The town guards recently notified town officials and a city engineer was dispatched immediately to further investigate and determine what course of action may be necessary. A report filed by the city engineer documented and confirmed the suspicions of the town guards. An excerpt of the report reads as follows:
“… furthermore, the deterioration of the Poor Gate and Main Gate poses a serious threat for Britain’s defenses. The town’s ability to rely on the Poor Gate and Main Gate as a main defensive rampart requires that these structures be operating at their fullest capacity and be replaced immediately and without delay. During examination, one portcullis at the Main Gate even dropped on its’ own accord, without setting finger to the trigger mechanism. Luckily, no citizens were passing underneath at the time of the gearing malfunction.“
Due to the urgency of the situation, and to avoid the lengthy process of the usual ‘Request for Proposal’ bids from various city contractors that typically provide construction-related services for Britain, all citizens willing to lend a hand are asked to meet at West Britain Bank on December 26th at 8PM PST.
Volunteers in the blacksmithing/mining trade may be needed but all citizens are welcome to attend. A small contingent of Britain’s town guards, the south western garrison, will be on duty to provide support for gathered citizens who are willing to lend a hand. Additional information and details regarding the specific task required to reinforce the city gates will be provided at that time.
Signed,
Town official Elias
and
Town official Eliar
