My 2 cents on upcoming armor revamp

I havent read up on this one at all but from what I am hearing it sounds like there is a huge revamp of armor and weapons is coming soon?

Weapons I can understand because on the whole they are messed up and can be the cause of huge template imbalances.
But armor? Seriously?

Why do I get the feeling that the people that are actually spending the most gold and time on armor (the pvpers of course) are going to get completely screwed with this armor revamp?

And why? Because a dozen or so banksitting fashionistas want to be able to wear a close helm with the same mods as everyone else? Thats a complete joke.
And what is their logic? Because peeps wore close helms 10 years ago? Thats idiotic.
People are sitting in banks whining that they want to wear plate suits for what reason? You can wear all the plate you want to strut around in. You just cant pvp in it.
If you do want to pvp in metal btw you can grab some val hammers and make insane platemail mage armor.

I may be making a mountain out of a molehill here but based on past experience I know that this armor revamp can and will have huge un-intended side issues that will only seriously affect pvpers.
I am sure Sampire suits may also be affected but it just isnt the same. The imbalance created between the 2 is not even close.

Just my uninformed 2 cents.

I agree mostly with you this armor revamp wasnt really necessary, but the sooner they do it , the better it's gonna be. This armor revamp should have been done BEFORE the dungeons and item properties revamp of course, but now lets just wait on an update on how they will do it but again I agree with you, all pvpers that paid billions of gold for new weps and armor are probly going to be screwed sadly.

Yep.

The fact that pvp items are outrageously overpriced and expensive is not the point here either.

They are what they are and if you want to compete you pay market value for them.

May as well throw in a tiny revamp of pets and start spawning blaze cus every 5 seconds. Lets see how that one flies. Peeps wanting revamps for nothing other then nostalgia may want to rethink things a bit then lol.

If you get a better game back afterwards, is it not worth going through the pain of replacing items just one time?

What is your logic? That players have been wearing leather for 10 years now and thus we shouldn't change it? That sounds idiotic too.

Change can be good. Change for no valid reason is not good. Only an idiot would think that people had to wear only leather for the past 10 years btw.

First of all, how will the game definitely be better just because a couple other armor types will now do the same thing? If that is indeed what ends up happening.

Secondly, this is not even close to the first or only time pvpers have had to revamp entire suits/gear. Seriously?

Lastly, nobody HAD to wear leather the past 10 years. There were and are other types of viable armor. Woodland suits & mage armor plate from high end runic hammers have been very common and powerful.
Just because pvpers focus on leather does not mean a revamp is needed. What other playstyle cannot use one of the other armor types? They all can. They just choose not to.
As it is now Sampires generally dont wear leather. Tamers could put together amazing pvm suits with val hammers.

Bottom line is that I believe that this armor change is being done for nothing other then nostalgic aesthetics and thats just silly and wrong imo.

Set up a PvP character on Siege where the supersuits are not really necessary to PvP. On Siege, where there is no insurance and you likely lose your armor if you lose a fight, most don't PvP with billion gold suits, they instead use less pricy suits and rely on skill & talent to win at PvP.

You might find opponents worth fighting among Siege's PvPers and not need to spend fortunes for armor.

Well I hope the changes apply just to new armor. It would be a shame to scrap out multi million gold suits.
I do however look forward to the change in that since AOS it has made no sense that leather is stronger than plate.

Uh oh.

Shameless and pointless Siege hijack alert.

The 6 people that want to play Siege are already there. Leave it be man :)

Nothing like complaining over a prospective change that has merely been mentioned in a letter and completely lacking in details. :drama:

I haven't read about the new changes, But I have been playing since The second expansion. One thing that seems to go unsaid; this is a money sink hole sandbox. Since Third Dawn Came out with all the bling bling and new templates and the web based sandboxes charging $$ at every turn Uo decided they do the same and has grown( uo store) 3 pages now. Every year they develop a sink hole, for this very reason I am always the last one to charge into many of the new revamp. Yes I do try to get ahead of the curve somewhat to make some extra cash on the ones that charge into the new changes, mostly the merchants are the ones that loses out, they are the ones that spend the time and gold to be the first ones to show off the bling bling.. However.. I don't invest more than 10-20% of my time and gold on new revamps.
As soon as people stop believing that the powers to be have your best interest at heart; players will a better perspective going forward. Sometimes I think uo should be sold to a party that would Treat the game like Richard Garriott; Players would be better off.
Just take it as it comes and don't invest your time in the new revamps, which many have already taken this position going forward.
In all fairness, some players like the new ideas just because it new thing- - and they except the risk involved knowing the it could be a gamble(like the 2 mins I spent in the new casino) Ha The fact this is such an Item based game now make it so shallow. Having said that I still enjoy my own lil world ingame and I refuse to it it get under my skin. I am just thankful I once enjoyed my game play under the rule of Lord British. O' how they were blissful moments in time.
srwy - I got into a bit of a rant there..
