Many years ago, two sisters lived in a small ranch of Britannia. Rowena was the eldest, and took the brunt of thier father's anger when thier mother had died. She dressed her sister as a boy, taught her to fight, and hoped it would be enough to protect her. And then one day, Rowena left. She promised to return when she had the power to take care of her tom boy sister and take her from the dangers of life with thier father.
Rowena never returned.
Luka worked the farm, and illuded the attentions of her father for awhile. But in the end, her femininity could not be ignored. He came to her one night, but instead of satisfaction, he found the sharp end of Luka's knife. She did not kill him, no. He lives, even today, in the hills north of Britannia..however unable that is he to even satisfy a stray harpie, much less a woman.
Not that Luka was a woman. Not in those days. She roamed the lands, stealing food and staying as far away from mankind as she could. The wolves and the bear were her friends. She was as a wild boy, taking comfort in a family of fur and growls. If she were to look back now, she could not identify what had caused this strange lifestyle or how she won the trust of fowl and fauna. She only knew that it was. And in her heart, it still is. Animals of today still know her. For her soul rests where they tread.
Time passed and her luck changed...for the worse. The pack of wolves she migrated with were set on by hunters...horrible men who did not kill her as they did her family. Days later, broken and left for death, she was found by a kind woman. She was taken to the warmth of the fire and fed..no questions asked. Shailmar was the first since her sister that Luka would come to trust.
Trust did not come easily in those days.
