Lamp Room (Doom)

I am new to stealing and was curious how the lamp room in doom works. I know you have to do the lever puzzle but am curious as if it can be done alone and how hard it is to do? Is there a trick to it?

set a person on each plate and throw switches in an order. it tells you how many of the order was correct. keep doing it until you get right order.
it then teleports the guy on center plate into room.
just pick up gauntlets if they are there.
then steal the lamp post
poison gas will enter so it might be best to eat some petals right before you enter.

do not log out in room as it will kick you out.
