Invasion Bug??

My little tailor was sitting quietly in his private house some distance outside Trinsic about 30 minutes ago when the Trinsic invasion began on LS. The nearby healers all went red with hatred and suddenly started casting flamestrikes upon my startled tailor. Before I could set my coffee down and react, my tailor was a ghost. I was not aware that red NPC's could cause damage to characters within a private house if that character had not engaged them in some form. Am I mistaken, or is this a "bug"?
