Pre Rares Festival - Chesapeake
Kijustsu Anei Village
July 8-13, 2010

On Thursday July 8th the famous Rares Festival went live on Chesapeake shard. Festival Hosts Demon Slayer and Sundina kicked off the process with opening the three vendor malls in Kijustsu Anei Village. Lord Gareth (Festival worker) counted down the seconds until 12am for the first vendor to go out. Zelda of Zed (Festival Worker) created a information vendor for visitors wanting to know about events, auction and vendors. The event listing for the Rares Festival are posted below.

Friday July 16th

12:00 pm - Opening Ceremonies (Takes place between the vendor malls.)

1:00 pm - Lotto #1 (Takes place between the vendor malls. Books will be handed out with a number on them, write your name inside and hand them back.)

1:30 pm - Lotto Drawing #1 (Takes place between the vendor malls. Five books will be drawn at random and each of the winners will receive a prize.)

5:00 pm - UO Trivia Questions - Hosted by Moria (Questions will be asked about the history of the game and 1 million gold checks will be handed out to the person that answers each question correctly)

8:00 pm - Horse Race - Hosted by Guardians Gate (Takes place in Guardian’s Gate Village via house teleporter from the teleport hub. Characters will race around a track on horseback from start to finish. The first five people to finish will win a prize)

People will make their way through a customized house filled with icy patches and will have to get to the roof to hand a book in with their name in it. The first five people to do this will receive prizes.)

7:00 pm - SHE Auction - Hosted by Zedland (Takes place in Zedland via a house teleporter from the teleport hub. The auction is ran by the SHE Guild and is the longest running auction of 5+ years on Chesapeake. This is not strictly a Rares Auction as there are a variety of items submitted, but there are plenty of good items auctioned off and gold prizes given out during this auction.)

7:00 pm - Unannounced

8:00 pm - Closing Ceremonies (Takes place between the vendor malls.)

Harbingers.... those little buggers still make a special guest appearance at each Rares Festival. Except this time the Felucca and Trammel guilds were ready for them to be spawned. Each Harbinger spawned only lasted a few minutes before being were taken down by Greater Dragons and Colossals. Special thanks to UHOH, RBG, SHE, OATH, ARY, FY and TIPS guilds for their quick response. Also Individual and off shard players.

The local Savage Tribe and Orc Clan made their presence known during the late hours on Friday. It would appear the two groups exchanged a few choices phrases which later turned into a bloody battle. Savages and Orcs battled back and fourth but it was unclear to who were the victors.

EM Drosselmeyer stopped by to chit chat with everyone in attendance. He also offered to sign blank holiday cards for those who were in attendance. While that was going on one of the Crafter Hall workers were creating about the twentieth batch of benches to put down. EM Drosselmeyer offered to hammer them down fro the remaining time of the Rares Festival. Everyone was excited and so thrilled to have festival seating that wasn't going to slide out from under them. While bench crafting and nailing was going on Drosselmeyer decided to sing a little song...

"Log rolls down stairs, it tumbles and tears It's great for a snack, and it fits on your back! Log Log Log!"

Special thank you to EM Drosselmeyer and EM Dudley for assisting with the bench issue. With the item decay timer and the random axes coming by we estimate that around 300+ benches were crafted. The carpenters and customers are just so very grateful.

Keeping the entertainment going, EM Dudley busted a few moves for the raresfest customers. The Legendary Dancer not only knows how to strut his stuff on the dance floor. He always has a few tricks up his sleeve. Another shocking development was the fire storm running through the festival. Festival staff members attempted to control the flames by bringing in the Gaman Fire Trucks!!!

And lets not forget the death dealer... I mean Mesanna. She also made an apperance to craft festival host and staff surcoats for those putting on this (PITA) event. Her and the EMs were kind enough to also create a gate from the festival to the Luna bank. They will also sign V-day cards for everyone but you will have to provide them. Free cards can be found in the black bag on the Crafters Hall vendor mall. Again we would like to give a million thanks to EM Dudley, EM Drosselmeyer and Associate Producer Mesanna for all of their assistance they are giving to help make this festival a success.
