I'm putting this as a sticky, for the simple fact that it's not as obvious as it was on the old forums.

Note that Moderators CANNOT DELETE posts. Instead, all we can do is move the post to another sub-forum. Usually, the destination (for lack of a better option) is the evidence forum (which you normal posters can't access), where we put the offending posts of those people who get actions taken on their Stratics account.

Now, surely, you don't want your "Ok, I found it - delete this post" sitting between posts from people banned for really nefarious reasons, do you? Especially if later on, someone is searching for past offenses to determine the severity of action to take on a slip you make, and only notes you have a bunch of posts in that forum of mostly offending posts, but not HOW they got there (many of the lower infractions sunset off your record in a few months, like points off your Drivers license do after a few years, so you can get a relatively clean record for behaving right).

So, here's how you delete your post. Note that you will still see a line on your end, that a post has been deleted (and I think you have the ability for a week or so to undelete it), but typically, only moderators of the forum and admins can see it otherwise, unless it's been directly replied to (in which case a position-holder noting the deletion may be viewable, but not the content, by others). Note: This may require selecting the "Full WYSIWYG" option for posing in the User CP - Frankly, switching to that mode can only be to your benefit, anyway, so if you haven't done so, try it.

Step 1: Edit the Post

This is done in the usual manner....

Step 2: Choose "Go Advanced" (or the "Delete" button, if you get one)

These buttons, located between the "save" & "cancel" buttons, will put you in the WYSIWYG mode, and you will find the section that gives the ability to delete your post, ABOVE the interface that allows you to edit the post. It is titled, of course, "Delete This Message". Note that some posters even have a "delete" button between "Go Advanced" and "Cancel" - I'm unsure if it shows up for everyone, for starters of threads not yet replied to, or just for staff members. If you get that button, then by all means, go ahead and use it, and save several steps!

Note that the "Go Advanced" is also where you get all the nice features for your post, such as lists, inserting YouTube videos and spoilers, special fonts, etc. If you've not tried it for posting or editing yet, try it and play around a little.

Step 3: Delete the Post

The attachment below (click to enlarge) is a picture of the contents of the "Delete This Message" box....

Choose the "Delete Message" circle, add in a reason for deletion if desired, then click on the "Delete this Message" button immediately below the text shown in the attachment.
