How is "this" item equipped?!!!

I'm quite confused. Is this a hack? Is this a beta item? I can only imagine how much strength it would take to loosen something like this from the ground, and use it as a club... er, wait it is "swordsmanship" weapon class. I'm confused. Ok, anyone know where this thing came from? Or even comes from? What in the world must it look like when equipped?

It's found on a rooftop, straight down from Skara Brae.

Please, any info on this item would be awesome, thanks.
