(RP) High Council Passes Sixth Constitution! Governor Changes Ratified!

Cross Posted from the Tribune:

The 421st meeting of the High Council of Britannia ended with the adoption of the Sixth Constitution of the Kingdom of Britannia. Among the major changes: The elected Governors of the cities of Virtue and Vesper will now have the right to sit upon the Council or appoint a representative, the Chancellor will now have another cabinet member for defense and be able to issue short term decrees, and the Grand Marshal will now be a Council appointed position as needed in times of war or crisis.

While this reporter has seen that many changes to the Council in the past have often proved contentious, the constitutional congress held the previous Saturday before the Council meeting was a civil and productive affair. The new constitution was drafted by Justicar Max von Bayer. He produced it with generous help from the following: Justicar Tanda Knighthawke, Chancellor DaKaren, Councilor Neptune, and Grand Marshal Polynikes. With their consent, a final version was put forth before the Council for a vote.

The votes as follows:

Councilors of the High Council

Lady Pab II, Representative of Yew and Justice - Aye
Lord Neptune, Representative of Skara Brae and Spirituality - Aye
Lord Gunther Kivlov, Representative of Newcastle and Redemption - Aye

Lord Malag-aste, Minister of Foreign Affairs - Aye

With no dissenting votes, the passing was unanimous. With no objection, the Chancellor moved to swear in the attending governors, Walter Tyrell of Moonglow and Dot Warner of Britain. Alista Laleyan of Jhelom is currently hoping to include another and appoint a representative. Any citizens that thinks they might be interested in doing so are encouraged to contact her. Governor Willa of Yew noted that she had already sent Pab II to the Council as her representative before the changes and would continue to have Pab II serve as representative. The new constitution shall be posted soon to the High Council information board that is maintained by the Tribune.

On a sad note, after the meeting, Chief Justicar Ra'Dian Fl'Gith, also Governor of Trinsic, said he would be stepping down and Justicar Tanda Knighthawke would now be serving as Chief Justicar. This is of course following proper procedure. As per the Court Charter, the longest consecutive serving Justicar becomes the Chief Justicar. Because the Lady Knighthawke could not attend the meeting, the swearing in and official process shall have to wait for a later date. This reporter, however, is saddened by the loss of one of the most stalwart members of the Council for many ages (those elves!). I am sure that we will see interesting things from Trinsic and Dracona now that his focus is there.

I look forward to seeing what more comes from the Council now that they have added the governors to it's inclusion. This should be for the benefit of all, as both Governor Tyrell and Governor Dot Warner just finished successfully hosting the Harvest Festival Costume Party and Drop House along with Governor Willa. Have a happy Halloween!
