[Mining] gems question

i have heard but cannot find it anymore that you need to be elf to get gems from mining and from lumberjacking

also heard you have to be elf to get colored wood from trees

wanted to know stuff before i make my miner or lumberjack

Any race can get gems and colored wood, however, one of the traits of being an elf claims to give you a better chance to get these special resources, but I personally can't tell...

elves have a increase chance to get colored resources like gems boards etc
humans get increase quantity per spot and carry more
