Just a light thread about the personality of pet names...

I have 2 Mares: MareGrrrRita and imMareTure

A Cu name Blanco Colmillo which means "White Fang" in Spanish

A pair of Kits named Yin and Yang (I'd just stabled Yin when a Char accused me of racism because of Yang!!!)

A Rune name Runny Beetle

I saw a WW named "Great White Dope"

I saw a brown Drag named "Old Muddy"

Fun Names!

Let's see, my cu sidhe's name is "Krieg" which means "war" in German. My rune beetle's name is "Chikara" which means "strength" in Japanese. My wyrm's name is Shiva, the Hindu god also known as "the Destroyer". My new red dragon's name is Samhain, the Celtic name for the festival that corresponds with our celebration of Halloween. I like giving pretty, feminine names to my kits (ok maybe betraying a bit of male chauvinism there...). They seem so delicate, but they are so nasty, the names just seem to fit (Arabelle and Tinsel).

T-hunter tamer has:

a mongbat for level 1/2 maps - Boris
and
2 drakes for level 3 maps - Morecambe and Wise

Tamer has a red dragon called Tomato and a rune called Big Bad Beetle until I think of a better name!

My fencer's horse is called Cafe Latte

In KR you can make a name with 4 words if you fuss at it for a while. I got all excited, then I discovered my imagination lacked any cool 4 word names.

My tamer has an evil "darkness" theme to him, so all of his pets are named as such.

Twilight (the mare he rides primarily)
Midnight (brown dragon, his other main hunting pal)
Blackout (rune beetle, another main hunter)
Eclipse (brown drake)
Shroud (dark frenzied)
Umbra (old pack leader hellhound, named before Malas)
Noir (meat-eating ki-rin, French for 'black')

The rest of my stable slots are currently just being used to obtain pets for others. I have yet to train up a reptalon, hiryu, or bake kitsunes, and I haven't been able to find a shadow cu yet. I'm running out of dark-themed names. I suppose Abyss, Void, and Nocturne would apply. Any other ideas? Names like Darkness, Dark, Black, etc. seem a little too bland.

Oooh pet names! I cant think of special names for mine but I do love to read others pet names, quite interesting Here's mine:

Rune Beetle - A lil Bug (honestly couldnt think of any other name)
Mare - Pookie
WW - Woogie
Giant Beetle - The Chocolit Wagon (well its for the purpose)
and all my rare colored cus are Poodles! e.g: a Pink Poodle (for my rose pink cu)*teehee* and so on.
Except for my last recently tamed Grey cu of max hits (600) is called Dog of Hades.

(as coz he's the only sane pet of 'em all )

My main Cu is a bronze colored one. My guildmaster forced me to name it "a chili dog" cuz she was hungry at the time.

I named my jet-black mare Judy Jetson.

I have a serious "other language" thing going with my pets, mostly a bizarre mix of Japanese and Russian...

"Raiu" (copper cu, *think* it means "thunderstorm" or something similar in Russian)
"Zima" (black cu, means "winter" - Russian)
"Kashmar" (mare, meaning "Nightmare" - Russian)
"Mir" (ww, slightly ironic... means "Peace" in Russian, picked the name on a blonde day before I remembered about the former International Space Station)
"Mahotsukai" (runey, means "wizard" or "sorcerer" - Japanese)
"Inazuma" (bake, damned if I can remember this one, but also Japanese)

From my early UO days - my blue beetle named "Herbie" ^^

Then there's my pair of hellkitties - "Chilli" and "Paprika"... was gunna go the cutesy route before I realised how much it shamed me to be followed around by a little red fuzzball named "Fluffy Bunnykins"

My first runey was named "Othello", which I thought was hilarious. For anyone not quite so geeky as I, its cos he was big, black and angry :O:O:O

My one-time bard and soon to be thief of sorts has a horse named Smelly.

Oh, and hubby has a legacy ww that I am still conspiring to steal, named the terribly unimaginitive "one". *tuts* Silly boy doesn't even give the lovely pixel creature the honour of a capital "O" :O

Oh oh oh and my miner has a fire beetle called "a forge beetle" and her packy is named "a longsuffering llama" *grins*

Makes me feel almost ashamed for having bland names for my pets.

Although I´ve thought of giving them special names, I´m not very original - always have a hard time naming things (even characters), so I named them after IG friends that were special to me when the pet was tamed...

The only one I´ve not named that way was Cherry, my white wyrm, (after trying to come up with a name for a while I ended up thinking "what does it look like? Hm, icey, smooth, Oh! whipped cream and ice cream, you always put a cherry onto that" *laughs and blushes a bit*) and I felt at least a bit original (who would name their tw ww like that?) until about a year later, when walking to the brit stable and seeing some random person walking along with a tw ww which was also named Cherry.

That was quite depressing, but just tought me that some day, I´ll have to think about better names.

What cracked me up is that I have an male elf-tamer which always wears pink and has red/pink pets (I was bored and am not a fan of elves to be honest), and I always told others that elves are not manly, so why shouldn´t they wear pink? (plus I have a hard time roleplaying men)

Hiryu - Scatha
Dragon - Glaurung

oh and, my shadow Frenzy, called Pippin. He uses up one of my stable slots, never use him, but can't bring myself to get rid of him since he was the first ever 'badass' pet I tamed back in 2001 (been through many adventures, back in the rather scary pre-bonding days, lol)
