Maya sat and stared at the beautifully crafted Gargoyle Statue and sighed.
The meeting between herself and Gorn hadn’t gone as well as she’d hoped.
She was so excited to be given such a position by Queen Dawn. And she was even more excited her first assignment would take her to the new lands.
But all this seemed useless, as Gorn was refusing to let her in the lab and help with the analysis of the samples taken the other night. He had been less than hospitable towards her. Her accommodations were wonderful, but she was there to work. Due to Gorn’s insistence not to let her in the lab, Maya was having to go over his head to the Minister of Commerce and to the scientist reporting to Queen Zhah.
But until word came from them, all she could do was sit and think about that dreadful night.
So many deaths for such small samples.
Maya was very proud of the people of Britainnia. They showed great bravery and skill helping to obtain the samples. She did see someone showing off one of the skulls as a helm. Not sure that went over well with Gorn. He seemed so grumpy it was hard to tell what he was thinking. But then, she thought, maybe that was their way. Never having been to these lands before, she was not certain of all protocols.
Maya did know one thing. Time was a wasting and an answer needed to be found. She knew she could be useful testing samples and determining perhaps where this threat came from.
Determined, Maya stood up, bushed off some more of the seaweed from her boots, and then walked in the direction of the Royal City. If they were serious about wanting help, then she’d just have to convince them to let her in sooner!
