Please remember that BV & TC3 will not get it.

Pffft!

Like you guys, I thoroughly enjoy free green weekends. It is sort of bitter sweet for me doing this task, and that's why I've been procrastinating. We don't do free greening in BV, TC3, or EA-Land. Last week, I realized that this will be the last holiday free greening we'll do.

::raises eggnog:: To bigger and better things, eh? By this time next year, this game will be so incredibly awesome that we won't even remember free green days, a life without custom content, or even what it was like to log into a city and only see 2 houses online.

You could give us the last one for New Years!
If you really want to make the last one special so we talk about it for years to come I say start Monday and go straight thru New Years. Would that be too much?? But really sims deserve a vacation too the way we work them to death.

I will miss free green days in EA Land sigh. Oh well....bring on the new year and EA Land!!

How about starting saturday and run through Jan 2nd? You guys will be able to relax and take a breather while we run amok skilling in the production cities.

You gave us a week last year....remember?

Just think....this is our last Christmas in the old cities. It should be very very special.....Pleeeeze!

Then it's official, we lose another of the things I enjoyed in The Sims Online. I'd ask for the reasoning behind this, but I know better than to expect an answer. I already know certain vip-thinking players don't like it, and will be happy to see it removed forever, but I really don't think they are the majority. I wish you had done a poll before deciding to just dump something so many have enjoyed and looked forward to.

As for your enthusiastic outlook for the future, good luck with that.

Yes, they should, but with the self-serving executives and their total blindness of what's actually going on at the bottom of the chain-of-command means that there is rarely if ever any hope for that.

When will anyone put an end to this burueacratic, no-motivation-to-change-or-show-compassion-for-average-people-or-customers business leadership style?

I personally feel trapped with nothing I can do to escape it. Businesses and corps, if you have any compassion - start expressing concern and actually CARE about other's feelings more than what will financialy benefit your uselessly huge bank accounts.

If any of the board-of-directors of any corporation reads this, send me a PM. We can discuss this.

Trust me we WILL remember ALL of the things we no longer have regardless of custom content.
Remember NOT everyone is so excited and in cheerleader mode for custom content. We are just holding out top see *if* anything else considered fun by players makes it into the game. We've had enough of the *so-called* economy fixes.

Those CEO's do CARE about the customer. It's a hard line between the bottom line and customer care. They are attempting to keep the game open for you while make some money in the process. Lee has told us on numerous occasions at the pub that the game is in the red. Being in the red means no profit. They are going to do what it takes to get the at least leveled out if not back into the green. I highly doubt any CEO is going to see this and even if they did, I doubt they would respond. So, remember, look up the people that have your game's life in their hands:

Pfft like I'd log to a production city to enjoy free green... If I don't want to green I'll go to a residential lot...

Good riddance!
*raises glass*

G

Right. If they did not care, TSO would have been shut down as soon as it went into the red, which I'm guessing was actually some time ago. If they "cared" to the extent that they listened to every player request, the game would also be dead, because the company would be bankrupt. It's about balance between company needs and player needs. If this balance did not exist, neither would TSO.

I will be enjoying free green in the production cities one last time, but at the same time I am glad that it will not ruin the economy in EALand.

P

Good point, very good point. You are right, if they were only interested in profit they would have shut it down a couple years ago.

Well then, thank you EA for preserving the game even when it was at a loss.

I, for one do like or am indifferent to most, not all, but most of the changes. My main problem is the loss of casinos.

Sigh, free green is only useful in the production cities so really why even bother with having it at all?

I guess I can go skill those simmies up, at least I'll get them caught up to date

Its really its rather sad. I looked forward to the traditional free green for holidays, it made it more festive in a way.

Another thing I love taken away...the list is getting long. Im finidng it harder each day to see the things some of us loved being taken away.

Oh well, enjoy it while we got it folks. Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas.

*Merry Christmas & Happy New Year*

(just hitting reply to no one in particular)

Poignant, our last free green. I suppose I will skill up sims in Jolly Pines and Blazing Falls. Cannot get into TC3 due to
blasted castanet error
(along with about 20 others spread over about 50 threads in CH).

I'd give up my gnome for a dev cell phone number. Today is Sunday December 23rd, when do you think a human being will actually look at a thread here or on the blog? Wednesday December 26th...bah humbug.

Well, since my man and I can't enter any regular cities at all, I'm not sure we will get to experience "green free" to start with! Hopefully whatever issue is at hand will be promptly fixed and can skill our virtual brains out while "green free" is in progress. I think it is a fantastic idea and I plan on using it to the fullest extent allowed!

And I bet you hate all those Whos with the Who singing and Who cheer. The Who toys with their noise, noise, noise?

Just pipe the music in along while you sing

You’re a mean one Mr. Grinch
You really are a heel.
You're as cuddly as a cactus,
And as charming as an eel,
Mr. Grinch!
You're a bad banana,
With a greasy black peel!
You're a monster, Mr. Grinch!
Your heart's an empty hole.
Your brain is full of spiders.
You've got garlic in your soul,
Mr. Grinch!
I wouldn't touch you
With a thirty-nine-and-a-half foot pole!
You're a vile one, Mr. Grinch!
You have termites in your smile.
You have all the tender sweetness
Of a seasick crocodile,
Mr. Grinch!
Given the choice between the two of you,
I'd take the seasick crocodile!
You're a foul one, Mr. Grinch!
You're a nasty, wasty skunk!
Your heart is full of unwashed socks.
Your soul is full of gunk,
Mr. Grinch!
The three words that best describe you
Are as follows, and I quote,
"Stink, stank, stunk!"
You're a rotter, Mr. Grinch!
You're the king of sinful sots!
Your heart's a dead tomato,
Splotched with moldy, purple spots,
Mr. Grinch!
Your soul is an apalling dump-heap,
Overflowing with the most disgraceful
assortment of deplorable rubbish imaginable,
Mangled-up in tangled-up knots!
You nauseate me, Mr. Grinch!
With a nauseous super naus!
You're a crooked jerky jockey,
And you drive a crooked hoss,
Mr. Grinch!
You're a three-decker sauerkraut
and toadstool sandwich,
With arsenic sauce!

I could not resist :p

What is the reason free green is being discontinued?

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm going to miss it, it was nice to having a couple days off of greening once in a while. Couldn't free green be tweaked not to work on skill and money lots (since the original purpose was to take a break and have fun without worrying about greening), but still like work on entertainment lots? And I think objects shouldn't be disabled just because they aren't on the proper lot...just disable the rewards they give.

That is essentially what the motive-free residential lot, for the new EA Land, will be....a place to just play around.

They have all the interactions, and all the non-specialized furnishings. They can be anything someone want to turn them into, for example, game lots, bars, resorts, wedding chapels, Party Central, Orbism retreats, Friending Ogies.
