Found a weird item

I have a pile of gold! It reads "gold coin" but it is a pile. When I pick it up is reads 65535 gold coin very odd! anyone know what it is?

Not sure if this is still happening but those were the result of a fairly common bug.

They come from begging, I believe it's caused by having negative karma causing the npc to give you a "negative" amount of gold which sort of confuses the gold pile.

They are caused by rental vendors that have fallen also, I have lots and lots of those from years of rental vendors falling.

Nope. Those came from the begging skill on NPCs, you got a pile of gold, if you drag it, its a random pile of an amount of gold, but not really the amount of it (like 61'271 gold in one pile) and it just has the name "gold coin". You cannot have another pile of gold in your backpack, it just messed things up. As of today, I'm not sure this works anymore (I don't think so).
