3/14/2019 – The rangers returned to Mariah’s house in Moonglow, having received word from her that she wanted their assistance with another lead. In this case she wanted to seek out the secret quarters of Lord British in Castle British. It is fairly well known by now that there exists in the absent king’s room a false wall that opens into what seems to be a private study. This however, Mariah insisted, was merely a fake secret room to hide the true secret. For Lord British, once being among the most skilled mages in the kingdom, possessed the rare ability to create magical structures within a pocket dimension localized within his very own room – locked away with a kind of key that Mariah had been entrusted it. Upon arriving in the room in Castle British, Mariah used her key to open a portal into the secret domain of Lord British.
Soon after they had entered, Mariah and the rangers had found the enchanted, towering structure to be in a state of decay due to years of neglect. Navigating through the crumbling ruins they encountered a festering anomaly through which strange creatures of the void came through and attacked the rangers. Before long, the rangers climbed the ruins into the main study, where they found a book and a few letters concerning the Runes of Virtue. They also found a curious recording device. When Mariah accidentally activated it, the ghostly image of the former king appeared before them, as well as the image of the entity known as the Time Lord. The images seemed to discuss a plan concerning construction of the Shrines of Virtue and the unification of the shards, a plan that had been written about by Sherry the Mouse in her tale “My Story”. Once the image of the Time Lord departed, however, the former king remained, indicating his concern over the potentially devastating effect of unification, but vaguely suggesting that the Runes of Virtue as a possible resolution. However, the king said nothing of how they would work, and the recording came to a stop.
After studying the relevant materials, Mariah and the rangers returned to Skara Brae, and left the collected resources at the Rangers Guild Hall for further study.
