How cheap...

I don't mean to be negative, but perhaps they didn't want to end up with zog cabalists in their escort. Just a tought !

Clanin lives only on this shard ? Interesting favoritism...

I'd like prior notice too. It's not like I can play 24/7, but with notice I will make the super extra effort.

Thing is, we seem to be paying for outdated servers who cannot handle 100 players in the same screen...

which is most likely what would happen if there was a public notice... clanin would have had one heck of a headache. :hahaha:

It's a strange paradox when we think about it. When we should have had those stories to fill the lore of the realm Gariott and Long shied out because I scared them. (oh yeah they pouted with many excuses but lets face the truth)

I have browsed around by curiosity on some other forums and it looks like some free servers (I'm not giving names) handle much more players on much less territory. I seen screenshots with britain bank filled with players, at least 100-120 of them all around and it looked like tons of people are talking, and the player report no lag and pings of 80-120 ms tops. It's... free ?! Not only that ; they (according to forums) have no duping, no bugs, no problems we seem to get like items disapearing temporarly (for me) and your backpack order rearanging itself randomly ; better AI, more quests, more deco, more arties...

So what are we paying for ? The servers ? or the live EM team, or the new expansion (I hope it will pack a punch and shut me up forever)? Maybe then we deserve having attention with multiple event spread on a period of time so everyone has an equal chance to participate in the events (like clanin will be escorted 4 times in the day, with 4 subscribed ROLEPLAYER groups). We already know its a small portion of the players which are interested in roleplaying, so whats so hard about it ? If I was paid to be an EM the whole virtue library would be filled already, and I would do this in my free time, free of charge as a player.

Even knowing all that if I get some money I will still subscribe to EA and play on atlantic, because the GMS have been smooth with me, I met tons of great people, there seems to be plenty of PVM challenge to train my kind and reflexes AND I hope for a true ULTIMA expansion this time, I really do !

But honestly on the dynamic side right now, it feels dead, noone really feels "important" anymore... Pretty much all the famous roleplayers I have met have been totally nonchalant and OOC with me, some even telling me that if I wasn't a member of the roleplaying community I was worthless and would never amount to anything... it's just like it was when Richard and Starr were running the game, they seem perplexed and there is nothing happening. When I log on I don't think : oh yeah I'm logging on a dynamic virtual world and I am adventuring in the unknown... nah ; I think I'm going to meet my friends, we'll be safe, and we can all train our group spirit and tactics and strategy and mind... like we could on any other online game that has some sense.

It's become an isometric EQ clone thats what it is, I say that even if I really appreciate the effort that has been put in it (I mean my mind can discern the many aspects associated) ; but it's not yet an Ultima adventure. But then again has it ever been ? So don't see my post as a complaint... it's rather constructive criticism.

How hard it is to log with 2-3 EMs and morph them into terrible necro liches who menace to invade northern britain from the graveyard, pack them with a few slightly enhanced artifacts, some unique hue deco items ; but warn the players as they approach with a system message that since the liches powers are very transcient they will telekinesis 50k out of your bank account if they take your life, and you will have 10% skill penalty for one hour ?

How hard can that be ? And that would get a whole bunch of people's blood pumping and create some dynamic interest... and if too many players show up and it gets out of control, the liches invis themselves and raise an army of undead, retreat and reiterate their strategy.

Y'all know what I mean, this is Ultima !

Draconi

Francesco rose grandly from his chair.

"My Lords! Ladies! Please," he implored the assemblage, "we must stand together!"

The Royal Council, representing the nobility from every shore of Britannia, had gathered again in Castle British. Events of late were chaotic, dividing their time and resources away from each other. The militia of a half dozen cities had been sent scurrying across the land, trying vainly to meet each new threat – often only to arrive just as their foes departed.

Even the Elves of Heartwood had been attacked. A single man adorned in dragonscale armor had appeared in their midst, and, for all reports, had done nothing until he had been provoked. "Oh, but what a response," Francesco inwardly mourned, noting the casualties and devastation wrought high up in their sacred wood.

"Seems perfectly reasonable to me," a woman spoke, standing to counter him, "It's your fault, after all, is it not?"

After all he had done, tried to do, won and lost, he knew they condemned him. For an experiment gone awry, for rumors of the Shadowlords loosed on their world, and for the ceaseless attacks on their sovereign territories.

"And if it is, I will bear it! But we must act as one!"

The noblewoman leaned forward over the table and hissed, "What good is acting together when we have nothing left to give! Our cities, not yours. Our cities are the ones besieged!"

"Let us hear our lord the treasurer!" called Ambassador Casca.

Voices rose in a torrent of dissent, arguments erupting around the table. Francesco stretched out his hand and, surprisingly, they quieted. Francesco had the answer, they thought. He always seemed to know what to do.

Francesco did know. This was the moment he had been waiting for. He would soon speak, proposing that the larger cities volunteer their own local militias to serve with the kingdom's, creating a military force the likes Britannia hadn't seen since the wars of Lord British's time. They would rush to the defense of the smaller townships and secure the hearts, minds, and, most importantly, the lives of the oft neglected people.

Britannia would be stronger that ever. In a way, their struggles and conflicts had at last offered them a chance to heal into a stronger nation, even without the heroes and legends of the past.

Someone screamed.

Francesco looked down at the shining blade protruding from his chest. It was transparent, with small rivulets of crimson blood streaming down the edges, distorting the image of his feet like glass. Glass... He opened his mouth in silent surprise, the blade shattered, and darkness rushed in from the corners of his vision.

Swords were drawn. The nobles rushed, at first, against the invaders cloaked in their dark robes. Panic set in after the third or fourth man died, impaled on a breaking sword, or sliced apart with ease by the merciless and silent enemy.

The guards were long dead. The doors of the chamber too far away to escape in time, but the survivors tried, desperate for escape, rushing together and falling together. The doors opened! The last noble crawled forward, looking upwards into the horrified face of a guard who had heard the confusion from outside.

The guard turned jumped back and turned.

Later, some would wonder whether the last sentry had cowered and attempted to run, or if he had bravely attempted to warn the castle. The assassins in their cloaks had little care for heroic tales, and simply slaughtered everyone who had seen them.

The Royal Council was no more.
It looks like they're having a good'ol RP party without us again ?

Heh... Ambassador Casca ? isn't he king ? if he witnessed this too, it means that he's now dead ?

Did they forget what Zog did with the shadowlords ? It would seem they think like most people around here.

Noone is important, you can be a legend in your own little corner of sosaria and noone will ever hear about you elsewhere, it's just a game... or as lord Malo said :

The royal counsil meets every two weeks at announced times and everyone can attend, everyone knows about those events they're announced loudly (anyone?), you seem to be the only ignorant one. What you aren't even part of the ARC ? You will never have any impact into this world.

Really ? Sorry to disapoint you all, but it's too late. I decide whats going on around here, whats cool and whatnot, I hold the grail. You can use your godly powers to bring up puppet impersonators of the shadowlords, but I'm not the only one that knows what happened in truth, and in the end if you keep it up like this you'll loose whats left of it, and become just another generic game.

"Sorry we cannot receive your suggestion for this game, because if we were to use it you would copy this e-mail and sue us in court because we stole your idea ; all further communications will be blocked."

I'm just back from the update center, it seems that they are having continuity problems... we are already at publish 58.

Perhaps we should start the Society for obnoxious anachronism.

We would like to thank everyone for submitting their entries to the West Brit Bank Renovation contest. Judging was very difficult as we had so many great entries. As much as we would have liked to use all of the submitted designs, we are only able to place one on each shard. Our thanks and kudos to everyone who submitted an entry.
Um actually you could have put one in Felucaa too, and besides if you really meant what you are saying, why do you say if it seems obvious... ok I'm indulging too much here I'm not going to speculate as to what kind of wine they consume. But it makes my imagination roll alot...

We've received multiple reports that new, supposedly "rare" items are appearing across the servers. These are not sanctioned items from the recent content patches or events, and in some cases even take on the appearance of server-birth rares.

If you find these suspicious items for sale, or see them being offered, please use the in-game reporting tool to page a GM.

Please enjoy your post-holiday vendor shopping, but beware of deals that are too good to be true.
Don't you have trackers on items yet ? I'm a lousy C++ and Java programmer and even I know how to do these things, I made small games much like Gariott did in his youth, and if you duped an item in my game, I would know right away.

So Draconi said Casca died 4 months ago yet Chrissay Zeeman says Hail the new king by royal decree of the Royal counsil which is supposed to be dead.

Hello ? Do you even check the boards to get feedback from the community, or do you just make a fake feedback form and trash the messages before even reading them like they did in the day ?

Definately Thomas, very perceptive of you, and there is no peter pan to get them back for me.

It's even more ironic than this, I gave my marbles willingly to a man who now spends over 20 million euros to fly himself into space and comes back weakened with one heck of a devilish smile.

But as you can see I been posting with this intensity for a while, and I pressed the matter on noone, I carry my own weight and happy life goes and will go on.

It just still is truth and its about time someone highlights their obvious errors, there is noone else to assume that position, it's sadly necessary.

Instead of spending their time trying to make a 3-d client like everyone why do they don't improve the code instead ? It seems pretty clear noone cares for the new clients, everyone I met that tried the new KR client was choppy and swearing so loud they prolly heard them in the abyss. I made a quick survey and everyone answer : Good ol 2-d ML client.

People want to play Ultima, not Dark age of Camelot... no wonder Draconi says : It's been an adventure to find out how luck works, and it seems its broken, go figure (resume)

Anyways, I'm still having fun, its nice and I probably wouldn't have done better expanding on the structure that was already there ; but why do you think Gariott left his "baby" so abruptedly ? The structure is rotten and corrupt, many people know even if they're too scared to come out in the open ; I know who you are !

Food for thought !:rant2:

Draconi's post I quoted above says that the dark figures killed EVERYONE that had witnessed the event. Even if Casca was somehow affiliated with them and they let him live, there is a post in the UO herald MUCH later that says that Ambassador Casca was made king by decree of the Royal counsil, it's supposed to be dead !

Then enlighten me Thomas ; nowhere did I say I wasn't openminded... I just said I asked all the most famous roleplayers and everyone skipped over my questions like they didn't know how to make sense of it themselves. Then proceeded to tell me how stupid I was. Lord Malo himself told me he met weekly with the true royal counsil, not some kind of fake RP group, and that it was announced loud and clear, always at the same time. It's supposed to be dead !

The shadowlords wouldn't have staged a bloody murderous scene full of gore to watch the royal counsil walk off as ghoses and ressurect with the full memory of the events, now ; would they ?

And even making abstraction of all this, everyone agreed by silent conscent that Abigail was the only true heir to the throne that is of noble descent. Regardless it seems we have a problem on our hands, where do you stand ?

Enlightenment is just a click away.

A new royal council, whose makeup is a mystery, was created by Lord Casca as he was the only surviving and available member of the previous council. The new council proceeded to request him to become a king. The reason why most people consider him an usurper.

Ok... well that was an interesting read.

But far from enlightening me with anything, it does clarify some points however, now the realm is ruled by non nobles whose intentions are totally unclear, and the royal britanninan guards obey to them carelessly ?

Honestly the more I think about it the more questions it raises, questions that are a strong menace to the continuity of events.

The royal britannian guards is constituted of nobles, the royal counsil were only a small portion of the nobles apt to direct the realm. Obviously none of them would have accepted a simple ambassador to direct them, I know full well they would have died before letting that happen because I dealth with them many times as the most powerful mage of the FoA, which I was the undisputed leader of after they did that foolish ritual to merge with the shadowlords which absorbed their souls and effected full dimentional travel to earth. What we are seeing here cannot be the shadowlords.

Even worse, what of the Zog Cabal ; would Melissa roam around the realm without having first consulted Cear Dallben ?

I'm really curious for your opinion about this Cear, cause this makes no sense at all... it feels like a smokescreen I can smell it miles away.

The event proceeded in waves. After enough spawn had been killed Shadowlords spawned. They are very tough but can have massive damage done to them by casting the Armageddon spell. You needed to have a piece of blackrock in your backpack and say the words Vas Kal An Mani In Corp Hur Tym. A large explosion will occur and knock off over 1/4 of the Shadowlord's health.
I am the only member of the FoA who ever casted the armageddon spell, and it is much more complex than this, it requires a ritual... this spell used like this is merely called retribution. Do they expect you all to swallow reports like this in blind trust ?

If the shadowlords or even Kronos manifested those events, they would have asked for Cear's assistance in one way or another, and if he didn't want to cooperate they would have found a way to force him to.

But I assume you fought against them Cear ?

This is exactly what I have been saying for a while now. And everyone thinks me crazy!

Casca obviously installed this new so-called "royal" council, and had them proclaim him King. I suspect that Casca is the puppet, or at the very least the ally, of the Shadowlords.

I was distracted recently by a plot by Casca to do away with my sister. His assassins were not successful...and we discovered the secret of the Enlil'nishar. You wondered aloud above why the true Royal Council did not simply resurrect with full memories, it is because they could not resurrect at all, thanks to Casca's assassins and their dark blades. But it is still my full intention to raise an army and dispose this usurper. Already, the ranks of the PoV grow, and soon, we will have enough force to become a threat to Casca, and the other faction lords.

Lord British may be gone, but his intended heiress, Abigail LeFay remains...and I intend to see his wish for her to succeed him carried out. I tried at first to achieve this through diplomatic means, at the urging of my sister, but that time has passed. Now, it would seem that our only recourse is force.

We don't know this one way or the other. Casca could have easily made connections in the nobility during his time in the council and picked the few that favored him to constitute the new council.

Having lost almost the entire royal council under their watch, I would assume that RBG has lost both face and influence. Such are the intrigues of the court.

The scenario is within the realms of plausibility and makes sense to me. *shrugs*

I can see how it makes sense to you, but you obviously haven't read my story...

Anyways its not like I'm trying to be important here, I want nothing... It dosen't seem like casca knew alot of people before the massacre, he was ambassador. And Lord Malo which is a proeminent figure and the leader of the Legion of Honor would be very insulted by your comment, when I asked him about casca he simpley feigned he heard nothing (three times actually), and then I asked him about the counsil he told me that they were all of mixed Loyalties (few to casca, alot of others with different agendas), that there was noway to tell for him, he told me that the protectorate worked for the Royal counsil. When I asked him how could he work and take orders from a counsil of divided loyalties he seemed to answer that he didn't question them. I was quite upset and asked for the door.

Is that what you call honor ? Because we don't seem to have the same definitions !

All I know is noone has lost face ; the royal guard is still the strongest force in this kingdom, they cannot loose "influence" and they are not all mindless brutes. Their loyalties are tightly knit between themselves way before they consider new people they do not know if they can trust.

When you think about it, they would never had let this happen unless affected by some very dark spell, but they are not weaklings like the townfolk by magic resisting.

And you are basically telling me you go about your merry life thinking that this all makes sense and there is nothing you can do ? With all due respect sir, you are being fooled.

A few things:

Casca obviously did make some connections...but what connections? Who did he make connections with? He certainly did not reach out to the guild leaders of the our shard. Ask anyone. Well, perhaps Cear Dallben is not the guild leader to ask ;) Connections with the Zag Cabal are not exactly connections one would want on a resume.

And what of my sister? There is not a noble that was alive during Lord British's rule that do not know her...and what she was groomed for. Yet Casca did not seek her out, well...not to seek her council at least. Quite the opposite.

Perhaps it is the gods themselves that Casca has made an alliance with. It would seem that there are many that would seek to bury the rule of Lord British in the history of Sosaria...and my sister with it.

They don't realize that I will never allow that to happen.

Ahuaeyjnkxs:

I was explaining it in terms of out of character. Since, your line of complaint was out of character as well (insinuating that developers don't know what they are doing and leaving gaping holes). I simply pointed out that your imagination was lacking and provided you with a reasonable scenario.

Lord Casca is a global character and as such, there is bound to be limited shard based customization in certain context. Anyways, I realize that I am wasting my time.

Toodles.

Of course you do, silly mortal, you better run. Out of character does not exist, it is a beleif best left to worshippers of their own supraconscious ego.

That being said, I know full well the shadowlords are roaming the earth and are very busy, very very busy. We are being told by a "reporter" we are supposed to trust blindly (who in the community will vouch for him?) that Kronos is dead along with the other mages, right.

Casca might be a global character, but all shards have been tied to the atlantic shard in the day Lord British and Nystul did their ritual. There is no way around it ; attack it (because it seems you like to do that) with the angle you want you will always end up with Atlanta, Atlantis, Atlantic. This is the first shard (even if the development team was in the west might I remind you, the beta was started on atlantic server) beleive what you must but this is no sly coincidence to me. It is like you are telling me metaphorically that certain Ainur can change the laws the Illuvatars (the two in one creator of All that Is) laid out in the first place, this is highly illogical. They might try as hard as they can, but they will face another cataclysm, be forewarned, the wrath does not come from my hand.

I am the man who time traveled and met the wisps, I have been face to face with the man who sold the world, and I shall remember forevermore.

If it was all so simple would you honestly be that adamant about your "OOC point of view" ; I don't think so ! And you think marbles are imagination... sorry to disapoint you but it's not that simple, and I never said they were ignorant about their doings, I said they were menacing the continuity.
