Anything goes in your faction base as far as blocking right?
I got a guy here who says he's gonna get me banned for blocking (its just a crate in a doorway).
Figured I would toss this out here for discussion while I wait for the GM to come take me away?

I believe the rule is:

"You can block chock points, but there HAS to be a walkable path."

Then again maybe that's an RP rule..but I thought that was a real rule as well.

Yeah the answer is in this thread:
http://vboards.stratics.com/showthread.php?t=8437&highlight=blocking+faction+base (answered it myself :p)

He's so mad because he keeps dying to me that he keeps bringing new characters in. I finally started calling in my guild to get points off of him because I have recently defeated all his guys. LOL

Anyhow hes paging on me for blocking the doorway with a crate. If you can't beat em try to get em banned...

Even Up the odds and make it for all factions to be able to chase them in ...

Depends on what GM gets paged - it's 50/50.

One will say it's illegal and remove all the items from the barricade instantly - Another will say there is nothing wrong with it.

Seems you havent read the Phyical herassment page at UO.com

Here let me post it here ... So blocking in a dead person inside your base and seeing them dead and knowing you have a crate that is blocking the exit to leave the area .... Iam glad you dont see this as physical herassment ...
Please Read Below .
Straight from UO.com

What is physical harassment?
Answer
The following information applies primarily (not exclusively) to the lands of Ilshenar, Malas and the Trammel facet of Ultima Online. While you have the ability to attack other players freely on the Felucca facet, players are generally not able to defend themselves against physical harassment in Trammel, Malas and Ilshenar.

We'd rather not go into the specifics of all the actions we consider physical harrasment, but we do want to make it clear that it is not okay to ruin the fun of UO for other players, specifically when that is the intent behind your actions. It is important to realize and accept that everyone plays this game differently, and everyone has different expectations from the game and from the other players. Ultima Online is a social setting, and as such, we expect our players to treat one another with the same respect and dignity they would use in any other social situation.

If your sole purpose and intent in any action is to continually upset, aggravate, or otherwise annoy another player, you may be a "grief player." Using game mechanics to cause grief to others can also be seen as exploitation, and will be treated accordingly by game staff.

I think the only thing on my accounts Night Racer has killed was my Hiryu once, and a few of my shadow wisps. Hell the one time he failed to kill Shelly the Bride that I was escorting from Trinsic gate to Trinsic. He said he died cause "we" ganked him (But Shelly was a NPC)...

The best is when he grabs his Night Racer (He has 13 Night Racers... LOL... It's not even a good name!) with the darkwood set and is like WASSUP WHO WANTS SOME w/ his pitchfork.

BTW this question about blocking @ faction bases was specifically answered in a past FOF if I remember correctly. I don't know how to search it up, maybe someone else does.

But I specifically remember them saying in the case of a Night Racer, there was an exception to the rules. Just throwing that out there.

From the July 3, 2008 Five on Friday (http://www.uoherald.com/fof/index.php?fofId=116):

"What are the rules regarding blocking off areas in faction warfare?"

There are a couple of different possible cases - here is the breakdown:

Faction Vendors: There MUST be a path between or around them. If there is not, the GMs will take action.

In A Faction City (but not in the stronghold): If there are items placed in such a way that other players can't move them easily (many many candelabras on one tile, for example) the GMs will take action.

In A Faction Stronghold: Anything goes.

If the GMs are forced to take action in any case, they will delete the items/vendors that are blocking a player's path. The faction signup stone is a good indication of where a faction stronghold begins. Keeping that in mind, any blocking that occurs outside of that area may warrant action.
Since the Five on Friday clearly says, "anything goes" inside a faction base in terms of blocking off areas, it doesn't appear that ghosts who lack the ability to pick up blocking objects are expected to get any kind of special treatment.

For myself, I doubt that I'd ever go so far as to block someone's ghost into an area of a faction base because I'd rather see them go get rezzed, restocked, and come back to try fighting or sneaking into the base on a live character. But I can certainly understand why some people may resort to using such a tactic to send a message of some sort to another player.

I think any group of faction players that does something like this on a frequent basis to all of their enemies after a failed raid can probably expect to eventually have very few or no enemies left that are willing to come to their base to fight or raid, which is what helps to keep guarding times at least somewhat interesting, especially if we ever get back to 10 hour corruption times. So I'd definitely recommend using it sparingly, before you frustrate folks right into quitting factions.

Here let me help you out. You:

1. Goto www.uo.com

2. Then look for the heading update center.

3. Then you click Five on Friday

4. If you know the approximate time period, you can just search by date to narrow it down.

OR

Use google in the advanced search or use " " around your wanted search terms.

OR

I did the work for you if you feel lazy. Look here >

- Blocking in a faction base is indeed a legal tactic.
- "Anything goes" applies to blocking in faction bases only
- Ghosts can also be blocked by e-fields

My suggestion is to use the help stuck option when you are truly stuck instead of crying about it.

Can anyone explain how the pictures Night Racer posted were relevant? He even named them wrong, The gate is not an exploit by any means, Says Draconi. And blocking inside the base is completely legal and not physical harassment (btw most of that physical harassment crap applies to tram only heh).

Anything goes in the Faction base. It always has. A GM that tells you otherwise simple is clueless. If they give you grief tell him to get on his GM chat and ask another GM. Eventually they get educated to "factions"

Here is a photo from somewhere around 2001-2002. Your not hardcore until you're willing to guard 24 and place 730 trapped ore boxes with 250 ore in them all.

Second place is the first loser.

I was just discussing this thread with a guildmate. He told me that there may have been another announcement we're overlooking from late last year that clarified that whatever you use for blocking in the base has to be easy to pick up and there has to be a path. He wasn't sure if it was in a FoF or if it was more of a change in how the GMs were handling the situation when people paged. He thought the clarification coincided with when the TB base perimeter was changed and a practice that we were seeing on at least one shard at the time with vendors being used to corral faction guards.

I'll try to see if I can find anything else in the morning. At this point we might just both be too tired to be remembering some of this stuff correctly.

Pretty sure the rule was anything inside the base is fair game, but if it is outside the base and is accessible to non-faction players then there must be a path. As far as the ghost trapped in the base, well there are ways of getting out via shrine gem or paging using the char is physically stuck option.

There was also a post a while back on UHall with picts showing candelabras being used to trap people and I'm pretty sure a dev had posted a reply stating what was and wasn't legel in reguards to factions. Found the FOF post http://uo.com/fof/fiveonfriday116.html

I think this has been clarified enough in this thread and I think the fof has been posted twice, but just so everyone is clear this was the Last set of rules that they told us, this is what is being thought of about being able to easily move items, It applies only to inside of the faction cities and not in the strongholds, The clarity they give for "easily movable" on the other hand is somewhat unclear, to many on one tile is not ok, but how about one on every tile? I could move one and then move them one at a time as I went through....But meh The question is about the stronghold and there is no rules in the stronghold :)

Be thankful your not on Great Lakes, they will just run through anything that you place to block them in the doorway. The only things so far we have found to stop them are tables, but what a pain. But if we start using them alot they will figure out how to run through them as well.:wall::wall:

It's a sync issue. It's been around a LONG time. It's why re-sync with server was removed. If you place your barricades several deep (more then 5 tiles) the server should stick them somewhere in the middle. I believe if you have any action item like a trap that too will stop them on that tile.

You might give that a try.

I'd just walk right over em. I figure an ettin can do it, why can't I? After a few hours of training it was like I was at the circus!

I hear heavy set players who try it break through the crates and they get stuck on their feet, slowing em down.
