I know I am still very new to UO, but all these information is what i have experienced in doom during my camps. Any additional information and advice i will add on, everyone is welcome to add to it.

GUIDE FOR DOOM

This is a guide for new doom campers. It is a simplified version and I took time to go through all different scenarios so that when you meet with any of you won’t be at a lost. I have divided the scenarios for all classes, kindly refer to your respective class for more information. However, there are basic techniques for ALL classes.

BASICS FOR ALL CLASSES (PLEASE READ BEFORE READING YOUR RESPECTIVE CLASS)

1. “Only fools rush in…” never rush into the room, without knowing how many monsters there are, you are practically asking for death. Even if you are a mage, facing 5 flesh renders, you will not stand a chance.

2. Always have enough money in your bank, 1 to 2M you can spend a lifetime or a very long time in doom. You will need the money for insurance, 5K resurrection, reagents, aids and arrows.

3. If you fail to locate someone’s life bar, a pet’s life bar, your body, the monster’s corpse, kindly use “Ctrl” & “Shift”, hold on to both keys, until you have dragged/found the respective person/corpse.

4. Kindly use only BONDED pets in doom. Ethereal rides will come in handy if there is no tamer around.

5. The pentagrams located in the middle of the large hall on the ground indicate which room is active/inactive. Red indicates current room active. Black indicates room completed. Normal indicates not completed. This applies to doors of the rooms as well.

6. There is a mage shop located in doom, just after the beach, there is a secret passage through the wall. In there “nix” the seller, sells bandies, necro/mage reagents, bread, bags, potions, bottles, scrolls, etc.

7. There is a healer in doom, but you will need to pay for each resurrection for 5K gold, it will be withdrawn from your bank box directly.

8. ALL artefacts will be in your backpack with a message like this: “For your valour in slaying the fallen beast, you have been rewarded an artefact.”

9. Should you be dead when you are rewarded, do not worry, it will be in your backpack and not your corpse.

10. Should you be “overweight” when you are rewarded, do not worry, it will be delivered to your bank.

11. We co-operate in doom, solo slaying is frown upon and not encourage because every monster/boss, is a chance of an artefact. Try to heal the fighters/blockers and pets, if needed.

12. In all rooms and even dark father, we will single out one of the bosses amongst the batch of them, luring them to away from the others, there should be one person who lures in rooms and for the dark father. (Model lure person for rooms: Lady Last Hope) Unless its totally unforeseen circumstances, and have no choice but to kill with the other bosses around.

13. In rooms kindly do not stand on the bosses when you are in combat, you will cause more damage to yourself, and cause the monster/boss to switch to the next random target. (Do not stand on the same square of the monster in combat mode)

14. In rooms, the monster will attack their 1st attacker, i.e. the 1st person/pet that hits him.

15. For dark father, anyone person/pet that did damage to him, he will rotate his damage on his attackers.

16. Dark Father will be lured to the moon gate by one of the players.

17. Total 5 rooms in the doom gauntlet and all 5 has to be completed before dark father appear, he will appear in the middle of the large hall.

18. Anyone can join in anytime in any room or any dark father.

19. Spawn rate should be: for every 4 players anywhere in doom gauntlet they will spawn one monster/boss.

20. NOTE: PETS, SUMMONED CREATURES AND PLAYERS NOT IN HUMAN FORM WILL NOT QUALIFY AS A BLOCKER. Dark father will walk through them.

BASIC MACROS FOR ALL CLASSES

1. Last Object – Wait for Target – Last Target
This is good for tamers or classes who use aids. Is also ideal for “cutting” unholy bones.

2. All Names
Good for searching corpses.

3. Open Door
No more multiple opening for doors.

BASIC FOR TAMERS

Note: There is auto-stabling in doom, those un-mounted pets will not be lost, I have tested for 24 hr period and 48 hr period.

What to bring/wear?

1. Luck is always ideal for doom. Minimum luck should be 1000. The higher your luck the better your loot.
2. Min. 2K of bandies.
3. Min. 100 of each reagent.
4. Always encouraged to wear luck with LRC, if possible.
5. A bladed weapon for bone cutting.
6. Mages should max out on their SDI, as much as possible as there are no caps on SDI when it comes to player versus monsters.

What pets to bring?

Preferably white wryms, hiryus, nightmares or rune beetles.

What to do?

Rooms:

1. In all rooms set your pets on the monster after its being lured. Kindly try to help vet the targeted pet of other tamers.
2. I will suggest tamers to have discordance in doom, as it will aid greatly in killing the dark father.

Room One: Dark Knight Creeper AKA Alien

1. These aliens love to poison, pets with no magery will require some assistance.
2. Spell casters.
3. You can run from them.

Room Two: Flesh Renderers AKA ****roach

1. High-speed runners. Hard to run from them. If spotted, immediately cast invisibility on yourself.
2. They do only physical damage so vetting is not a problem in this room.
3. Try to prepare to cast invisibility on yourself, before entering this room.

Room Three: Impaler

1. Mortal, poison and bleed attack monsters.
2. You can run from them.
3. Only other tamers can help vet because of the mortal attack.

Room Four: Shadow Knight AKA Darth Vader

1. High spell casters, invisibility upon target.
2. Set your pets to guard you.
3. Run to the middle of the room and cast invisibility immediately should you be the 1st one in there.
4. Set your pet to follow after you have set attack on them.
5. When they are at 50% life, they will cast hide and stealth to any part of the room.
6. Reveal where your pet is, should it be set to follow it.
7. They love to curse and cast energy bolts.
8. You can run but they are fast casters.

Room Five: Abyssmal Horror AKA Squid

1. Very deadly but very slow things.
2. If targeted, they will hunt you down and kill, pre cast of invisibility is required unless you are luring.
3. They are mortal and lethal attacks on pets, so be prepared to help vet the targeted pet.

Dark Father

1. Go straight to the moon gate after room five try to walk close to the north walls, if not your pet will attack the dark father and usually is suicidal.
2. Stand behind the moon gate.
3. If it is a hiryu, nightmare or rune beetle, place it on the moon gate or left of the moon gate.
4. If it is a white wyrm, ask the wrym to follow you before you go through the moon gate, their position should be fine, unless there is a blocker, ask him/her to move and allow your pet in if dark father has not arrived.
5. Once the dark father is right in front of the moon gate set your pets to attack it.
6. For tamers with white wryms, if you have arrived late and players are already killing the dark father try to go behind the moon gate, but if you cannot, kill from the steps will be fine. If you see Lich Lords, please aid by killing them first before.
7. Area peace is not encouraged because once the undead monsters move from the steps the next batch will spawn. Try target peace especially for lich lords.
8. Tamers are encouraged to cut unholy bones. Click on bladed weapon and then the bone pile that reads “unholy bones”, repeat until the pile is destroyed. Dark father usually “spits” them out on the steps.

There are 2 case scenarios when it comes to Dark Father:

A) If there are blockers

1. Try to heal the “Blocker” and other pets if possible.
2. Mage tamers, if possible kill off the spell casting undead monsters as they will be harmful to the “Blocker” (a player who blocks the dark father from moving forward towards the moon gate) if any.
3. For tamers with hiryus, pre cast invisibility, run and stop on the moon gate or left of the moon gate, quickly dismount and run behind the moon gate.

B) If there are NO blockers

1. For tamers with hiryus, run straight to the back of the moon gate, dismount and set attack, your pet should be able to hit the dark father.
2. And there is an archer or mage who insist of standing behind the moon gate to shoot or cast, ask your pets to stay, run out of the moon gate immediately and stand next to the steps at the edge (sandy part), you will still be able to vet your pet.
3. If there is an archer/mage, DO NOT cut bones as they will need the spawn to block the Dark Father when they are shooting away from the moon gate.

BASIC FOR PALADINS (NOX/CHIVALRY BLADED MELEE)

What to bring/wear?

1. Min. 2K of bandies.
2. 15 Orange Petals
3. Barding Deeds for Swampy x 10
4. 2 x Demon Slayers
5. 1 x Undead Slayer
6. 1 x 100% Cold OR Fire Weapon (Can be a combination of both)

8. A shield, preferably with faster casting.
9. Min. 100 of each reagent. (NOX Paladins ONLY)
10. Make sure all your armours are fortified to 255/255 durability. Unless they have self repair.

12. Defence Chance Increase (DCI) and Hit Chance Increase (HCI) should be at least 25. Caps are at 45.
13. Please have enough tithing points for chivalry users, 100K (max) should last you for awhile.
14. I will suggest paladins to have healing skill in doom, very useful

What pets to bring?

Preferably swampy dragon as they absorb 25% DMG in PVM.

What to do?

Rooms:

1. In all rooms, if there are tamers, try to let them attack first to save on your durability.
2. If there are NO tamers, assign a tanker; heal the tanker for all monsters will be attacking him/her.
3. DO NOT stand on the monster, as it will switch targets to other players hitting it.
4. If you are soloing it, try to hit and run once your life is down.
5. If you are tanker, try to get other players to heal you.

Room One: Dark Knight Creeper AKA Alien

2. Spell casters.
3. You can run from them.
4. Spells needed: Enemy of One and Consecrate Weapon.

4. Spells needed: Enemy of One, Consecrate Weapon (Compulsory) and Remove Curse (especially for soloing).
5. Demon slayer needed for this room.

Dark Father

1. Go straight to the moon gate after room five try to walk close to the north walls. Unless you are the lurer, wait in the corridor.
2. If you are the lurer, please wait for all the tamers to run pass you and then prepare to lure.
3. Stand ON the moon gate. Hit “Cancel” when message appears. Or the left of the moon gate
4. It is essential for the “lurer” AKA blocker to stand on the moon gate. UNLESS there are other blockers around, you can run through the moon gate and recuperate.
5. Please allow all pets to go into the moon gate if dark father has not arrive.
6. Try to pull up all other paladins/fighters’ life bar and heal them if possible.
7. Cross healing is very essential while doing dark father, the only way to stay alive.
8. If there are no other paladins with healing skill, ask assistance from archers, tamer and mages.
9. Spells needed: Enemy of One, Close Wounds, Cleanse by Fire and Divine Fury. (NOTE: CONSECRATE WEAPON Is useless on Dark Father, save your mana)
10. Demon slayer is needed for Dark Father.

There are 2 case scenarios when it comes to Dark Father:

A) If there are other blockers

However, if your life bar drops too low AND there are other paladins on the moon gate, run behind them and recuperate.

B) If you are the ONLY blocker

If your life is low and there are NO other paladins, run forward as fast as possible, DO NOT run backwards as dark father will move back and other players will be in danger (tamers, mages and archers).

6. Demon slayer is needed for Dark Father.

There are 2 case scenarios for Dark Father

A) If there are blockers

1. Run behind the blockers and stand behind the moon gate.
2. They will seriously need healing.

B) If there are NO blockers

1. Please be considerate and not stand behind the moon gate to shoot.
2. Stand about 8 steps away from the moon gate, wait for spawn to build up on the steps and fire away, at least the square right behind the Dark Father, this will prevent him from going towards you.
3. Kindly kill the spell casting undead, it will aid the tamers greatly.

BASIC FOR MAGES

BASIC FOR MAGES

What to bring/wear?

1. Luck is always ideal for doom. Minimum luck should be 600. The higher your luck the better your loot.
2. I would advice 100% LRC medable suit with luck.
3. A bladed weapon for bone cutting.
4. Mages should max out on their SDI, as much as possible as there are no caps on SDI when it comes to player versus monsters.

What pets to bring?

Any mount that requires only one slot, as a mage you are not required to block.

What to do?

Rooms:

1. IF you are lurer, lure only ONE away from the rest of the bosses, if in the process you found out there are more than one, be considerate, cast invisibility on yourself and then lure ONE again.
2. Wait until tamers set pets on them before casting on the monsters or after fighters combat them.
3. If you are hit, run immediately and as far away as possible, heal and cast invisibility on yourself before going back to the monster.

Room One: Dark Knight Creeper AKA Alien

1. These aliens love to poison, orange petals will come in handy.
2. Spell casters.
3. You can run from them.
4. Spells needed: Fireball, some mages will summon earth elementals on them while casting fireball.

Room Two: Flesh Renderers AKA ****roach

1. High-speed runners. Hard to run from them. If spotted, cast invisibility immediately.
2. Spells needed: Fireball.

Room Three: Impaler

1. You can run from them.
2. If you are targeted, run as far away as possible and cast invisibility on yourself immediately.
3. Spells needed: Fireball. These creatures have 100% energy resist, energy vortex is USELESS.

Room Four: Shadow Knight AKA Darth Vader

1. High spell casters, you can run but they are fast casters
2. When they are at 50% life, they will cast hide and stealth to any part of the room.
3. They love to curse and cast energy bolts.
4. Spells needed: energy vortex, energy bolt and reveal.

Room Five: Abyssmal Horror AKA Squid

1. Very deadly but very slow things.
2. If targeted, they will hunt you down and kill, run as fast as possible and cast invisibility.
3. Spells needed: Earthquake, Mind Blast and Energy Bolt. Some mages set earth elementals on them while casting.

Dark Father

1. Go straight to the moon gate after room five try to walk close to the north walls. Unless you are the lurer, wait in the corridor.
2. If you are the lurer, please wait for all the tamers to run pass you and then prepare to lure.
3. Try to pull up all other paladins/fighters’ life bar and heal them if possible.
4. Summon Earth Elementals x 2 before entering the moon gate, ask them to stay, set them on Dark Father when he is right in front of the moon gate.
5. Spells needed: Earth Elemental, Earthquake, Energy Bolt and Fireball.

There are 2 case scenarios for Dark Father

A) If there are blockers

1. Run behind the blockers and stand behind the moon gate. You can safely cast from there.
2. They will seriously need healing.
3. Cut unholy bones as they will block your Earth Elementals from attacking Dark Father.

B) If there are NO blockers

1. Please be considerate and not stand behind the moon gate to cast.
2. Stand about 8 steps away from the moon gate, wait for spawn to build up on the steps and fire away, at least the square right behind the Dark Father, this will prevent him from going towards you.
3. Kindly kill the spell casting undead, it will aid the tamers greatly.
4. Try to summon Earth Elementals as soon as you can, they will absorb damage done on pets.
5. Try to heal the pets, if possible.

DEPOSITING GOLD IN DOOM
(Contributed by Nightowl, my sincere thanks for such a wonderful addition)

About the only other thing that I'd like to add to the above is you can send money to your bank. You may not be able to use Bag of Sending but after a few days over there it's nice to return to the mainland and open your bank box and cash in the cheques that are scattered in your bank box. How I dislike to see the gold just sitting in the rooms on the floor. And it irks me even more to the players that just leave the gold on the monsters. If you don't want it, it takes a split second to dump on floor, someone else maybe able to use it to buy bandaides/regs/bolts or whatever they need.

Here's how I do it.
1. Collect Gold until your are just under weight
2. Go to 'Nix' and buy the most expensive item he has for sale, usually it's bolts/arrows or bandaides. Only buy with the gold that you have on you otherwise 'Nix' will take the money from your bank box.
3. Carry your item (they weigh far less than gold). Collect more gold until again you are just under weight. (Mages have an advantage with increase strength - Uus Mani)
4. Go back to 'Nix' sell your carry item. Sure you lose alittle bit with the sale but it's better than nothing at all. 'Nix' will only give you cheques of just under 10K, so if your sell items pays more than this only do it in lots of 9,999K, otherwise you will recieve a message 'Your Order can not be fulfiled'
5. Buy more carry items with your gold

This is great agathe. Thanks alot.

How is the etiquette in Doom? I have just completed a paladin/archer that I was thinking of taking to Doom for a bit of a change. If I come by myself would I be welcomed into a group or should I try and get into a group to start with?

Janice, your always welcome to join our group, we accept any stragglers :p
most groups will accept players, but usually if the person is known to at least someone in the group. There are some, however, who will never accept any to their party.....

I did notice one thing that is missing, if ive over looked it im sorry.
The bit i cant see is, to only lure ONE dark father at a time. ive been there and hear plenty about it, where someone who seems to be a sandwitch short of a picnic luring 2 more more DF's out.
ones fun enough. lol

Thank you, i did tis so that more ppl will join the current campers in doom i.e. me included, and its really not as scary as some may have imagine it might be.

for 1st timers, pls be prepared to die more than once... its a tradition in doom... and it happens to everyone, regardless their armor. i seriously advise 1st timers to come with vet friends WHO has been to doom, so that it will be more visible, other than just words in the guide.

Re: Kat
aye i did wrote that, no. 12 rule, under basic rules for all classes

WoW !!!! Fantastic Post Agathe

I even learnt something and I'm a regualar over there..Open Doors and CONSECRATE WEAPON Is useless on Dark Father

About the only other thing that I'd like to add to the above is you can send money to your bank. You may not be able to use Bag of Sending but after a few days over there it's nice to return to the mainland and open your bank box and cash in the cheques that are scattered in your bank box. 5. Buy more carry items with your gold.

Start the process again.

It may seem like it's too much trouble to be bothered but as I already said...if you don't want the gold at least dump it on the floor for someone else to use.

*Smiles*

Hi Agathe,

Just did my first round in Doom. It is not as scary as I thought it was. Got hit by some bones by the DF and didn't stand in the right spot when we lured him up the gate but it all worked out in the end.

I'm camped :)

Oh my goodness....it is the most fantastic post ever on Stratics IMHO. I've been plaing UO before T2A but I've never been to doom. After reading this post and with Lady Agathe's guide, I now camp in doom too.

JP from GL checking in off UPHall, great overall post. One slight mod would be the armour on the Archer, as being a distance attacker capable of major damage (double demon jukas) a high res luck suit would be nice, especially with the Tanker Tamers. My archer has 900 armour luck and I just pulled another arty 10 minutes ago, I am 100% sure I had top damage.

ty for reading, aye rs suit will be good, but this guide is aimed for beginners so hopefully they can build their suit from doom.

anyhow thanks for dropping by and great input

Out of curiosity, i take it there are no new major artis? with the amount of mini ones falling from the sky got me to thinking about the majors. be kinda nice to get some new ones. Would of added incentive to keep playing with the df's spesh as they made them a tidly bit harder

After the last "great" battle against our lady, me don't think she will be coming back here to contribute anymore...sigh

Just a quick note about the CW comment. (CW is useless save ya mana) Umm... I've found its actually not useless and from my times fighting dark father I've done around a basic 55hp damage and with 75hp with CW. Though I'll also say I haven't been in awhile so maybe his defense to the elements have changed? Anyway just thought I'd have my say, thanks

Agathe would you be able to put in details about the DF after ML has come out. I've been there a few times since and it seems easier with a mage just constantly throwing out Earth Eles. I killed it once with 2 normal Mages and barely any deaths.
Maybe this will get the hoards back to DF like there used to be.

CW - to attack the lowest defense element of your opponent/monster.

DF has all balance resists, therefore CW will not be effective, your jump in dmg is prolly due to a nox paladin using wither or the rune beetle with their corrupted armor spell.

however i too may be wrong...lol..

hello stumpy

basically df is the same...

however if there are all mages, i will suggest EVs, not EEs. But if there are tamers, EEs will be also an option, coz they absorb dmg for the pets

I did Df with paladins, alot of damn healing, and try not to cast Enemy of One, that will be seeking death.

Can you up date this for Samurai, ninja, spell weavers, ect?

Probably also worth noting the killer/protection monster talisman. The protection type are safer than the killers regarding Blood Oath, same reasons as avoiding EoO.

Im new to stratics, so forgive any obvious errors. My main question is to Fink (gday finksta), can discordance overlap allowing a greater reduction in DF's dci?
For example, someone does discordance, and before it times out, someone else does it, would that further reduce DF's dci?

P.S. Fink, morri's got my email, can u get it, and send me a gday, I need to chat

Hoorah, to the Oceania Gang!

Of course, u can, how rude i was just to say, finksta.
Cheers for the info.
Im currently trying to tweek the templates for all my chars, so a balance is what im after, while still maintaining value for skill points, used.
So im then wondering, as another bard option, does peace work on DF?
P.S. dam u ppl have got some awesome pictures, I WANT ONE!

The best on df is discord. Other stuff is for the undead he spawns really. Peacing of the lich lords highly essential as they are extremely fast for their haggard and old bodies, not to mention very hostile.

I will suggest all 3 but it seems provo/discord is pretty good. Well if a bard can discord a df, the rest of the undead shouldnt be a problem. We have tested, however, the undeads seem to be cleverer nowadays.

Good luck!

A good archer with mischief maker for df's critters should be able to contain the undead very well. Works well for me anyway and then i switch to a demonslayer of some sort for the df himself.

Room Five: Abyssmal Horror AKA Squid

Ive also been told that chiv is handy here for pets as remove curse will remove mortal.

Is this true? Ive had so many pets die down there facing abys that next time im go I will be using chiv on my tamer if I can find some way to squeeze it in.

Hey danny

erm, nope. nothing removes the curse. As far as i can remember once its hit with the curse, get ready to heal heal heal, timing is everything, it will be better if u have more than one healer for this room on the targetted pet.

Untrue, Agathe.... remove curse will nullify mortal wounds from a target. An enchanted apple can work for yourself if you are mortalled.

on pets too? i mean the apple and the remove curse thingie from paladins. i haven't brought a tamer into doom for a very long time, good to know if there is a solution

nice info thanks. I have been playing UO for just over 2 years now and we used to go to Doom regularly, but not for some time now.

I have to ask and please scuse my ignorance, but I see nothing about partying. Do you still have as much chance for a drop as the next player if you are not all in a party.
We used to party up all the time and I thought it a necesity or it gave you a better chance for a drop.

I havent been to Doom for over 12months now because of a few individules that spoilt it for everyone and would not adhere to the importance of team work.

Thanks for inspiring my interest again, you may see me there soon as archer Lord Benji, or Palidan Lord Sabe, from The Third Legion.

im not sure how up to date this thread is, i cant see any mention on necro or what ever it is that the df has and i also heard that dragging him onto the gate platform is a no no now

Big Doom Fan Love to go solo on a sampire template your info is a bit out of date i would like to add

#1 Enchanted apples extreamly handy for any class more for the dexxer's as it will negate blood oath as fast as you eat it and the timer is now reduced to 15 seconds or thereabouts so they have become handy and usefull in a big way

#2 Now in rooms the spawn will teleport back to spawn spot when draging them away not to troubblesom can be painful if lots of spawn but one or two not a big deal

#3 Mostly we lure the df up to a little spot accross from the entry to secret passage to nix then kill them one at a time.
