Does luck play a part when fishing?

Does wearing high luck items have any influence on the chances of getting better loot when fishing. Including the whole spectrum of fishing. Regular deep sea pole fishing, net casting, SoS chests, and leviathans....

Has this ever been tested?

As far as I know only the loot on the monsters is affected by luck (sea serpents, kraken, Leviathan, water eles). This includes a better chance for looting a marty from a Leviathan.
