Why would you play an online game if you didn't expect other players to entertain you? Might as well just play offline sims or lock your doors with permissions.

Ok - be at my place in an hour. I expect jokes (good stuff - not that Eddie Murphy crap), singing, dancing (bring your own tu-tu), maybe some magic, and - oh - if you can do some ventriloquism, that would be great.
Now, don't worry about any kind of cohesive act for tonight, I know it's not much notice, so 'impromptu' is ok. But, for the rest of this week (and next) I'll expect something that shows a little more effort, so you should bring your friends.
K?

From another store owners/creators point of view, and not a reply to anyone in particular;

Quite frankly, I don't care if you buy something of mine, color it pink and call it a Flamingo. I just want it to sell.

It has NOTHING to do with helping out the community, it has to do with me not wanting to stare at it for weeks until someone can afford it. I just want it to sell at a profit. If you want to buy everything I have in store and sell it elsewhere at a profit, WAY TO GO ! Hell, give it away if you want. I made my sale and that's all Im concerned about. Holla back at me to make more for you and I will.

All my items are set at a profit which I enjoy and I hope you have the common sense if you resell, to get yourself some profit also.

[/ QUOTE ]This is quite possibly THE most sensible post I've seen in this thread!

To that I will agree, even though you had some very sensible and fact based posts yourself, Katheryne.

Re: did anyone read the new License Agreement? [Re: narasan]

It's one of the things that really, really annoys me in these 'user agreements', and it's not a problem that just EA has - it's every damn game I ever try.

Why, oh why, must we wade through pages of legalese just to accept something to play a game? Why can these things not be written in plain english?

Also, would it really be so difficult to highlight the things that are new this time so we can at least see what it is we now have to agree to in order to continue playing something we have invested a lot of time - and in some cases cash - in building up previously?

Hard to resist poking some fun in a thread like this. Really why its still going on at all baffles me. The original question if I remember right has been proven to be legally groundless. Its not anymore unethical then the retail business since the beginning of time.

I have operated a craft business for over 20 years and it never once occured to me to think that I could control the product post sale. The very notion is beyond me. My advice is accept the situation as reality and raise your prices to meet market value. If you want to be altruistic start a homeless sim shelter and soup kitchen and give them a weekly allowance. Some could argue that not all artists are business people and that is true, I happen to be both. Perhaps we need some business minded folks to take on the job of artist representation.

edit: oops hit send too fast.

Capitalism is characterized by competition in which there is rivalry in supplying or getting an economic service or good. Sellers compete with other sellers, and buyers with other buyers. The buyers seek the best possible deal in purchasing goods and the sellers look to make the best possible sale allowing them the most profit.

Socialism is an economic theory or idea that states that the -- government or the state (EA)-- should be in charge of economic planning, production and distribution of goods. This contrasts with capitalism where free markets predonimate and property is privately owned. Socialism tends to favor cooperation whereas capitalism is characterized by competition.

Communism advocates class struggle and revolution to establish a society of cooperation with strong government (EA) control.

Which one is ours? The majority seems to like the capitalism way - anyway you can make a profit is OK. Some other ppl seem to think we should help eachother out. hmm

But EA controls us all!!

LMAOOOOOOOO THAT IS SO FUNNY> ROCK ON!!!,

now to my real post on this matter. I understand people do not want their hard work stolen. I would suggest that people put their information in the item description, possibly include how much they charged for it etc. If someone tries to overcharge for it then the customer has the option of buying it or finding the original owner to purchase it at a better price. The problem with not allowing resale of items is going to be the loss of peoples hard earned simoleans. Allowing purchasers to resell their items only when they are tired of them is going to cause a problem, what if a store owner has four of the same cc chair and decides they want a change. if they set the items out on their lot and resell them are they going to be accused of scamming? There should not be a problem here as long as the original creator was paid for the item in the first place. It is unrealistic to try to make people keep something forever that they do not want or to have to delete it as a huge loss of money.
