The Daedalus Project: New Findings and Surveys

The Daedalus Project (http://www.nickyee.com/daedalus) is an ongoing online survey study of MMORPG players that has surveyed over 40,000 players. Some highlights of the current issue's findings:

[*]Are short people more likely to make tall avatars? Who prefers to be an Elf and who prefers to be an old dwarf? In this article, we'll take a look at the intersection of physical bodies and virtual bodies: http://www.nickyee.com/daedalus/archives/001613.php
[*]Can MMOs be therapeutic? In this article, we'll take a look at the many different ways in which people use MMOs as a coping mechanism and consider how MMOs provide an outlet for many psychological stressors. We'll also explore both positive and negative consequences of doing so, and in particular discuss the gray area between therapy and dependency: What happens when people who know each other face-to-face reverse roles when they play an MMO together? Do these reversals change their face-to-face relationship in any way? In this article, we'll consider perspectives from friends, romantic partners, parent-children pairs, and boss-employee pairs: http://www.nickyee.com/daedalus/archives/001611.php
[/list]

I was curious to see some quotes from UO players. Only saw mostly WoW and an occasional other, non-UO, MMO. Ah well...
