chat window 'n chat commands

[Doozy]

having a bit of trouble sending private messages in the new client.
in 2d i just open the chat window and hit /msg <player> <text> and all is good.
in kr i could select them from the friends list and hit send message. all was good.

I don't think there is anyway to see whos online and send private messages in the new client or am i missing something.
/msg doesnt work... and /tell does something but not in the syntax im used to. (ie. /tell <player> <text>)
I did some searches through the forums and couldn't find much.

any help appreciated

I'm afraid I haven't investigated this

(there used to be a "listplayers" command, but it was disabled)
