Can you use stealing skill with smuggler's edge equipped?

Can I use the stealing skill if I have the smuggler's edge equipped?

I don't think you can actively use the skill (pretty sure both hands must be free), but every time you strike with the smugglers edge you make a stealing attempt.

Ok...I'm curious now, any idea if smuggler's edge works against people?

Good question, I've never tried it.
Maybe after I finish shoveling the driveway (I'm on a break!) I'll try it out.
