Can maps be transferred ?

The only issue I've ever seen with transferring them is that sometimes there is a house in that spot if you try to use them on a populated shard. I can't recall if this only happens if the map was decoded on the 'less' populated shard first. One would think that decoding a map would only look at where houses are on the current shard you are decoding on and it wouldn't have any knowledge of where houses are on the original shard... but no one knows the black magic of the housing warehouse....

Even if you find a house on top of your chest, you can just bag the map for a couple weeks and it reverts back to encoded, and you get a new spot when you decode it again.
