Blown glass flasks cannot be turned more than once?

I am trying to decorate my Alchemy Lab. I am having a problem with the blown glass flasks. I can get them to turn once to change the color, but when I try to change them a couple of different times to change their color, I get a "You cannot access this" message. Is there a trick that I don't know about?
