Eliza sat staring at the giant black pearl now at her workshop in Minoc. It’s beauty mesmerized her. “Where had it come from?” had been Ayden’s first question, most likely with the idea of looking for more. She wonder the same thing but for different reasons.
It’s color held the first clue as to where it may have originated. Only one known location in the ocean produced black pearls. But a pearl of this size screamed old, very very old and locations have a habit of changing with time. So how old was this pearl? Or rather, how long had it taken to form? Since a pearl is formed layer by layer, it’s size might help her determine that so she began to measure.
But measuring was quickly forgotten when she realized how round, how perfect this pearl was. Finding a small pearl that was perfectly round was extremely rare. Yet here was this monstrous pearl, perfectly formed and perfectly round. How was this possible? Eliza knew the answer to that question - it wasn’t.
