핀치는 유에 있는 감성 수도원 (Empathy Abbey)의 수도승이자, 드루이드였다. 드루이드들은 오랜 시간동안 브리타니아의 법과 전통을 수호하는 자들로써, 정의의 미덕을 실현하고 있었다. 수석 드루이드 법관인 알프레드는 그의 스승으로써, 항상 그에게 무엇보다 정의의 실현이 브리타니아의 질서를 지키는데 가장 중요하다는 걸 일깨워주었다.
그리고 핀치는 그의 가르침에 따라 누구보다도 유에서 정의를 구현하는데 철두철미한 자로 명성을 쌓기 시작했다. 사람들은 핀치를 경의로운 눈으로 바라보는 한편, 때로는 인간미가 없는 기계와도 같은 냉혹한 그의 심판에 공포에 질린 눈으로 그를 보는 사람도 있었다.
때론 드루이드 법관들은 그에게 미덕은 정의 하나만 있는게 아니라며, 동정의 미덕을 살펴보라고 권하기도 했다. 하지만 그때마다 핀치는 동정의 미덕은 선량한 자들을 위한 것이며, 범죄자에겐 일말의 동정심조차 주어선 안된다고 생각했다. 왜냐하면 법은 누구에게나 공평해야 한다고 생각했기 때문이다.
저들의 나이가 적건 많건, 여자건 남자건, 부자든 거지든 누구나 범죄를 저지른 자들은 똑같은 댓가를 치루는 것이야 말로 진정으로 법과 정의를 구현하는 길이라고 믿었다. 죽음이 그러하듯 말이다.
마침 한 사건을 종결시킨 뒤, 휴식을 취하려던 핀치의 방으로 시종이 요란한 소리를 내며 헐레벌떡 뛰어와 말했다.
"핀치 나으리, 알프레드 수석 법관님께서 찾으십니다."
핀치는 읽고 있던 책을 덮으며 조용히 의자에 걸친 자신의 수도승 로브를 집어들며 무표정한 얼굴로 말했다.
"제 아무리 급한 일이라도 수도원에서 뛰어다니는 건 금지되어있다. 지금 곧장 난 수석 법관님께 갈테니, 너는 곧장 네 방으로 가서 뛰어다닌 벌로 두 시간동안 명상을 하려무나."
시종은 억울한 눈빛으로 핀치를 바라보았다.

Finch was a monk and druid of Empathy Abbey located in city of Yew. Druids have been protected and fullfilling laws and traditions of Britannia, especially the virtue of Justice. Alfred, Chief Justice of Druids and his mentor, always told him that most important requisite is to protecting order of Britannia through virtue of Justice.
Thus, Finch has been dedicated to practice it and became famous. Some people who met him called him incarnation of Justice but some people called him Finch the Heartless because his judgement was pitiless.
Sometimes, his fellow druids told him that Justice is not the only virtue in Virtues, and tried to be more compassionate. When he heard it, however, he thought that compassion is for innocents, not criminals that he should adjudicate. Because he thought the law should be fair to everyone.
Whether they are young or old, woman or man, rich or poor, everyone should pay for their crime fairly will be the path of true Justice and the Law. Just as death comes equally. That was his belief.
Just after he closed one case and trying to get some rest, an young acolyte ran into Finch's chamber with loud sounds.
"Sir, Chief Justice of Druids, Alfred is looking for you."
Finch silently closed his book and picked up his monk robe and speak in impassivity face.
"It is forbidden to acolytes to running inside of this Empathy Abbey whether they are urgent or not. I will go to Chief Justice at once. You will heading to your room at once and start meditation for two hours as a punishment of your erroneous action."
Acolyte looked up Finch. His face was saying it's unfair but Finch seems doesn't care.
