[Fishing] a couple of questions from a returning player.

I've been away for 5+ years and just returned. I've been playing my fisher a lot since coming back. I had 100+ sos messages stored away and now that I'm back, I see that there is a lot of new loot and some map changes.
Are the new weapons and armor worth keeping for a vendor? (Runed bow,kelp woven leggings, and the Valkyrie armor) if so, how much are they worth?
I also have 4 (so far) sos messages that are located on the new land on fire island. Can these be fixed? or just junk now.
last, How is the high seas upgrade? worth doing?

Hello and Welcome Back!

#1 I usually keep a set on my vendors and they sell decently. Price depends on the shard you play - the new vendor search feature will help determine a fair price for your shard. (If you haven't used it yet, single click yourself and it should be the second option.)
#2 Not sure about SOS messages. If they work like treasure maps, if you leave it alone after a month the coordinates should change.

#3 As for the upgrade, I love it - I just got it a few months ago. (I was just too cheap but I really like fishing so I caved.) It is the only way to get 120 fishing and to do the fishing quests. (Like BODs for fishing.) Also, they have new ships that hold 14,000 stones. There is also a whole pirate thing but that I don't do, so can't say about that.


Also, I think a patch to redo the loot in the chest is coming soon.

I'm not 100% positive about this, but I believe you should be able to use those SOS messages in Felucca because there is no volcano for the Stygian Abyss in that location off the coast of the Isle of Fire.

First, welcome back!

The loot: I haven't had much luck selling it, but I do trash the items for Cleanup Brittania Points! Fishing is a great way to earn points. Each of the items you named are worth 500 points. Anything with the "recovered from a shipwreck" tag is worth 100 (even the chest itself). And if you do decide to upgrade and use a dredging hook, you can get items with a "barnacle covered" tag worth 250 points. Also, rare fish are 5points per stone and legendary fish are 10. ( I fished up quite a few 180+ stone Great Barracudas, each worth 900+ points).
