No. There is always new content being added. new items to get. and SA is only 2-3 weeks away.
Wowee. Please don't refrain my unbridled excitement on having new items to get!
That typifies why UO has turned to such ****. It never was meant to be an item-based game. It has turned to utter **** when that happened, as the game lost its uniqueness and became like every other PvM-grinding item validation fest MMO out there.
The lack of item dependence as well as the skill system, rather than items and levels, was what made UO such a different, enjoyable game to play. They effectively ****d half of that and the droves of players leaving is testament that it was a woeful decision. AoS really was the death of UO, far more than Ren ever was.
If in an attempt to speed up its demise, they added more land content to UO with most of the expansions. Yay, new lands to explore! Fantastic idea in theory, and perhaps in practice whilst the population expands, but when that stops happening it's stupidity. Let's spread out a dwindling crowd over MORE land area, so it becomes even more like a single-player game! It's such a foolish concept that I can't help but think that the dev team are acutally paid to intentionally run this game into the ground as fast as humanly possible.
UO is literally going through treacle-encased throes of death. It is prolonging its terminal demise as long as possible, but it is invariably marching towards it nevertheless. To think that new content is attracting new players is lunacy, and it's even almost outside the scope of reason to believe it's even helping to retain existing players. The game has been watered down to glorified item farming and the population has then been spread to utter breaking point. To think either of these activities is conducive to an ongoing successful MMO is simply stupid.
UO is not a game you want to come back to if you want the expeirence of a community game that offers a varied playing experience different to other MMOs. It is not the game it used to be and that's painfully obvious wherever you look.
PS: I remember you, Caewyn. I'm not sure from where, however - possibly an RP guild of some kind? I think you may have been on my ICQ list a long time ago.
