Lets get an idea of what players enjoy doing while they play UO on this shard.

Crafting, PVP, PVE, champ spawns, peerless, doom, Role Playing, Decoration of home, what is your poison on Oceiana? If i have missed an avenue of play mention it please.

Please no fishing and try to keep to one post and just edit that one if you decide you must add another comment.

And to overkill if the thread becomes not to friendly i ask you remove the post that offend and let the question stand so people can get an idea about the shards likes and dislikes.

I'm curious why did you make this poll so you could choose multiple options? It skews the results. If you wanted an accurate poll you should have made it one only.

Petrify i made the poll that way for the many who enjoy more then one thing on the list if you perhaps like to go hunt peerless or whatever and also love to pvp and bank sit looking all pimped out then check the ones that apply to you if it does not then you can just check the one. Tally of voters and the results of the poll can be used to find a percentage and know roughly what % portions are doing what in game often and allow for better understanding of the community as a whole.

Mainly i just want to see what the shard's stratics watching community is doing over all probably should have added a couple more options now that i think about it but then oh well it is what it is ;)

Could have sworn it was edit i clicked hmm must be due to sticky nature or perhaps its the drinks i have just enjoyed either way oh well hehe was only a request.

Hehe was with you in mind fink that i did decide to open the poll to multiple answers ;) you and a few others i know like or rather love to do many many things in this Huge and Diverse game.

Apparently Farscape and WildWobble are part of our thriving community of roleplayers.

All that I have to say about that is "...the hell?"

Not sure I know their RP characters, but I haven't been all that active lately myself. :blushing:

I don't have your indefatigable buoyancy of spirit in the face of afk-type indifference. I probably hang too much of my enjoyment of RP on interaction, which is something I have difficulty drawing out of people. You don't have trouble with either, which is to your credit.

That is because you are a fundamentally nice person who lacks the ability to recharge your Enthusiasm Battery by abusing people on the forums. I don't have indefatigable* buoyancy of spirit so much as I have vast galloping misanthropy. And I used to be such a sweet little girl back when I started roleplaying!

That aside, you're a real RPer and I'm glad to have you around, however sporadically. (I understand how frustrating it is when nobody will respond to you, I really do.) It's people who claim to be RPers to give themselves a bit of added credibility and the illusion of intellectualism while spreading their oversensitive paternalist superiority-complex slime all over the boards (and never actually RPing) that bother me. There's not enough of us on this shard to be able to afford a select few giving the rest of us a bad name.

...well, I'm certainly full of rage today. University exams, and all that. Compounded, of course, by the aforementioned vast galloping misanthropy. *cleans up after herself*

*You taught me a new word! Thank you!

though i might not always rp i do often enough and know full well who you be and have even interacted to some degree of depth with you and others on occasion
You know who I am? You know what I did last summer? I have, in the past, entertained you unawares? Well, that's just terrifying. Look, you've even frightened away all your punctuation.

Bank sitting doesn't really do anything for me =P I still haven't figured out if I would like pvp or not - I won't know til I try it one day =) I played on runescape for a little while with my nephew, and enjoyed beating him up (and being beaten up by him =P) so maybe I would.

RP'ing is something I would like to be able to do. It's not that I lack the imagination for it, it's just that I find it hard to keep *me* out of it when I try and do it - I seem to find myself creeping back in to any persona I try and take on =)

I think I need a lot more practise at it, and to *see* a lot more of it (kinda immerse myself into it)

I used to bank sit when it was a more social scene, about.. 3+ years back? Wasn't on the scale of 10 years ago but there were at least a half dozen regulars at most hours.

There's really nothing in it anymore other than to keep your character logged in to wait out murder counts/stat loss/char age etc. Hardly any commerce or socialising goes on there.

Oh, the days of roleplay. I do love to roleplay however its disconcerting when you get asked 'why are you a b*tch all the time?' because people do not understand you are in character. I do remember the days when orcs battled elves and the orcish guilds would have their own language...fond memories.

That being said it is hard to roleplay with yourself. Now that Lindae is gone (and let us be honest, he was a cornerstone of Oce RP) it is even worse.

Apart from roleplay I like to craft and peerless. Primping and preening talking leet crap at the bank holds no interest for me whatsoever. :eyes:

It's been that way for ages, my little finklet. Oceania died years. All that's happeend since has been the routine flogging of a reanimated corpse.

And here I was thinking of coming back after having been away for a few years.

Is it really dead?

No. There is always new content being added. new items to get. and SA is only 2-3 weeks away.
Wowee. Please don't refrain my unbridled excitement on having new items to get!

That typifies why UO has turned to such ****. It never was meant to be an item-based game. It has turned to utter **** when that happened, as the game lost its uniqueness and became like every other PvM-grinding item validation fest MMO out there.

The lack of item dependence as well as the skill system, rather than items and levels, was what made UO such a different, enjoyable game to play. They effectively ****d half of that and the droves of players leaving is testament that it was a woeful decision. AoS really was the death of UO, far more than Ren ever was.

If in an attempt to speed up its demise, they added more land content to UO with most of the expansions. Yay, new lands to explore! Fantastic idea in theory, and perhaps in practice whilst the population expands, but when that stops happening it's stupidity. Let's spread out a dwindling crowd over MORE land area, so it becomes even more like a single-player game! It's such a foolish concept that I can't help but think that the dev team are acutally paid to intentionally run this game into the ground as fast as humanly possible.

UO is literally going through treacle-encased throes of death. It is prolonging its terminal demise as long as possible, but it is invariably marching towards it nevertheless. To think that new content is attracting new players is lunacy, and it's even almost outside the scope of reason to believe it's even helping to retain existing players. The game has been watered down to glorified item farming and the population has then been spread to utter breaking point. To think either of these activities is conducive to an ongoing successful MMO is simply stupid.

UO is not a game you want to come back to if you want the expeirence of a community game that offers a varied playing experience different to other MMOs. It is not the game it used to be and that's painfully obvious wherever you look.

PS: I remember you, Caewyn. I'm not sure from where, however - possibly an RP guild of some kind? I think you may have been on my ICQ list a long time ago.
