The citizens of Sosaria assembled at 9:00 EST on Tuesday in Moonglow to assist the Knights of Sacrifice to deal with the aftermath of the Orc Thieves raid. While the citizen’s bravery had previously recovered a critical book, tonight it was discovered that five pages were missing from. After a cursory study by Samuel Kluttz III and Welch the Powerful the missing five pages were found to be spells written for the Knights by the mages of Moonglow. Welch had a vision and reported to the assembled crowd that all five pages were in the forests that surround Moonglow. The assembled citizens dispersed and with great alacrity fanned out across the wilds of Moonglow to recover the pages before the elements destroyed them. As the citizens fanned out they quickly discovered Orc Giants that were guarding the pages and after calling for the remained of the citizens a quick skirmish occurred as the brave citizens felled the orc giants regaining the stolen pages.
After the searchers reassembled back in Moonglow proper Samuel Kluttz examined the pages and discovered them to contain a previously unknown spell. After Kluttz remarked that he was no mage he handed the pages off to Wekch who, after a brief review, declared that it was for a more powerful summon gate spell. He admitted that he was not powerful enough and gave words of power asking that all of the assembled citizens help him to cast this spell, but in light of the devastating consequences of the casting of the spell, I have decided to omit the words of power for the safety of the realm. As soon as the spell was completed a large and dark gate formed and Welch was transformed from man into a blue demon who said that its name was Diti. Diti began to summon Minions of Darkness through the gate whereupon the assembled citizens fought valiantly against them doing their best to regain the situation. The battle was difficult with massive explosions of magical fire at one point almost overwhelming the brave defenders. Yet in spite of this, the defenders were able to hold and triumph. But this valiant triumph was extremely short lived as the foul creatures of darkness began sending in a second wave of foes and due to the disorganized state of the citizen defenders forced us to flee before they could finish materializing through the gate abandoning Moonglow to the enemy forces.
After the successful completion of a retrograde movement from Moonglow Kluttz addressed the survivors and assessed the dreadful situation. Admitting that at least for now Moonglow was lost and advising all the people of the land to avoid the city, as well as the fact that poor Welch is likely dead and his soul likely lost. Acknowledging that this was likely but a small part of this new enemy’s force all who wish to assist should come up with plans for how to stop the demon Diti and close the gate allowing it to summon reinforcements. Ideas are welcome and the assembled suggested already closing the gate or attempting to lure Diti with pies. Both ideas gained wide acclaim from the survivors especially Kluttz.
In a rousing speech, Kluttz said that what had already been faced was a small fraction of Diti’s forces and that the city of Moonglow needed to be sacrificed to allow time for us to regroup. The enemy must be stopped and that everyone should do their best to come up with a plan to stop the demons and retake Moonglow. Kluttz asked for everyone to unite to make sure that no other cities fell to their onslaught. (Additionally, he said the decorations would be coming to Moonglow soon.) Kluttz told the assembled to rest and regroup, drink some ale, to much acclaim from the crowd, and to kiss their loved ones as many would not see them again following the campaign that is sure to come.
