Greetings all,
In this publish we are having an issue with our patcher which increases the size of the patch. Please do not be alarmed. You are going to see a 411 MB classic client patch and a 112 MB patch for the Enhanced client. We are working on a fix for the patcher so it will reduce the size of the patches you will be receiving in the future. We are sorry for any inconvenience.

City Loyalty

In addition to assisting to quell the still ongoing unrest throughout Britannia three new ways to gain City Loyalty have been added:
  • Participating in Champ Spawns will award City Loyalty to the City you have chosen to declare citizenship to. The more difficult the level of the champ spawn, the more love you will receive.
  • Turning in BoDs in a Loyalty City will award love to that City depending on the difficulty of the BoD.
    • New Magincia, Minoc, and Yew are proud to announce the opening of new Smithy and/or Clothier shops to serve the needs of the citizens!
      • You may visit the “Sand in Ya Britches Tailor Hut” and “The Sandy Smith” right next to the Modest Damsel Inn located on the Isle of New Magincia.
      • You may visit the “Tinderbox Smithy” and “The Elves Thimble” located within the center of Yew.
      • You may visit the “Survival Threads” clothier in Eastern Minoc.
  • City Trade Ministers have begun accepting a variety of basic resources to assist in rebuilding and providing for the citizenry. City Trade Ministers will accept goods across a variety of Professions including, Lumberjacks, Miners, Hunters, Cooks, Fisherman, Archers, Alchemists, Tamers, and Herders.
    • Trade Ministers can be found at the major shipping hubs within each City. These include the Docks in most Cities, Great Oak Vessels in Yew, and the Stables in Minoc.
    • To donate a single item or stack of items drop them into the crate.
    • To donate a bag of items, drop the bag into the crate. A gump will appear with the quantities of each of the item groups you are donating. Make sure to check your donations, as all donations to the City are final!
    • To donate a tamed or herded animal double click the hitching post and target the animal you wish to donate. A confirmation gump will appear making sure you wish to donate that animal.
    • Double click the Trade Minister NPC to see a full list of items accepted. Basic resources are all that are necessary for donation.

Farspeakers (Improved Communication Crystals)

    • 4 Listen Mode Settings – off, public, personal, and spy
    • 4 Volume Settings – off, private, dual, and loud
    • 4 Output Mode – Normal, Show my name, show sender, show both
    • Crafted by Tinkers
    • Improved user interface
      • Can link up to 10 speakers
      • Work across subserver lines
      • Rechargeable with gem stones
    • Higher maximum number of charges – 5000 max charges or if exceptional 10000 charges

Faction Artifact Changes

    • All faction artifacts have their Rank requirement changed to 1
    • The price in silver for Faction Artifacts depends on the buyer’s rank:
      • Tier 1 artifacts cost 2,000 silver for Rank 1 players; and 1,000 silver for all higher ranks
      • Tier 2 artifacts cost 8,000 silver for Rank 1 players; 6,000 silver for Rank 2; 4,000 silver for Rank 3; and 2,000 silver for Rank 4 and higher
      • Tier 3 artifacts Cost 18,000 silver for Rank 1 players; 15,000 silver for Rank 2; 12,000 silver for Rank 3; 9,000 silver for Rank 4; 6,000 silver for Rank 5; and 3,000 silver for Rank 6 and higher
      • Tier 4 artifacts cost 32,000 silver for Rank 1 players; 28,000 silver for Rank 2; 24,000 silver for Rank 3; 20,000 silver for Rank 4; 16,000 silver for Rank 5; 12,000 silver for Rank 6; 8,000 silver for Rank 7; 4,000 silver for Rank 8 and higher
      • Tier 5 artifacts cost 50,000 silver for Rank 1 players; 45,000 silver for Rank 2; 40,000 silver for Rank 3; 35,000 silver for Rank 4; 30,000 silver for Rank 5; players; 25,000 silver for Rank 6; 20,000 silver for Rank 7; 15,000 silver for Rank 8; 10,000 silver for Rank 9; and 5,000 silver for Rank 10 players
    • All faction artifacts have a maximum lifespan of 30 days
      • The remaining life displays in the item tooltip
      • This lifespan is in real time
    • Faction artifacts have a new Item Property: Moonbound
      • Moonbound items are Indestructible when in a Felucca ruleset area. They will frequently repair themselves to maximum durability, and will not lose maximum durability.
      • Moonbound items are Ephemeral when in a Trammel ruleset area. They will lose 1 point of maximum durability per six minutes spent in active combat.
    • All existing faction artifacts will convert to this new system with this publish
    • Note that faction consumables are not affected by this change

Faction Artifacts for Gargoyles

    • The faction reward sellers now sell gargoyle versions of all rewards except: Kasa of the Raj-In, Spirit of the Totem, Hunter's Headdress, Inquisitor's Resolution, Stormgrip
    • The reward seller will not list any non-alterable artifacts on the menu for Gargoyles
    • Gargoyles who purchase faction artifacts receive gargoyle equivalents
    • Faction Artifact Alteration
      • Gargoyles may hand faction artifacts to the Faction Reward Vendor. If the artifact can be altered into a Gargoyle version, the item will be altered and returned.
      • In all other cases, the item will be returned un-altered.
      • Special conversions:
        • Fey Leggings (chain pants) alter into Garg plate legs
        • The Robe of Command alters into a standard robe which can be worn by gargoyles

Faction Point Distribution Update:

    • Faction kill points will now be distributed based on involvement in faction fighting. Players can earn points through dealing damage, taking damage, and healing damage when opposing faction members successfully kill someone in an opposing faction.
    • Points are awarded based on rank of the victim killed:
      • Ranks 1 - 3 are worth 4 points.
      • Ranks 4 - 6 are worth 8 points.
      • Ranks 7 - 9 are worth 12 points.
      • Rank 10 is worth 16 points.
    • The amount of kill points taken from the victim is based on their faction rank when killed or 10% of their current points whichever is highest. Players in stat loss will be worth 1 point or 10% of their current points whichever is highest.
    • Awarded points are divided between the participating characters in the kill:
      • The killer will receive 40% of awarded points.
      • The remaining 60% of awarded points is divided amongst the killer and all assisters. Max 3 assisters
      • Eligible participants will receive 40 silver for each kill.
    • The most deficit points any faction member can have is now 12.
    • Siege – Faction kill points will now be awarded on all facets in addition to victims receiving stat loss penalty.

Bug Fixes

  • Resolved the issue which was causing equipped items, mounts and even backpacks from disappearing in dungeons.
  • Fixed the issue involving healers getting looting rights properly.
  • Fixed the issue with altering the Quiver of Infinity into Gargoyle Wing Armor
  • An adjustment has been made to Cora’s Mana Vamp range

Well im glad i pulled my chars out of factions. The life span and silver cost is too much of a grind for a PvPer. I want to PvP not grind silver 24/7 just to wear faction gear

No tweaks for the loot generator? It's still spits out mage items like crazy but virtually no dexxer geared items.

Agreed! Wouldn't it be easier change faction artis to use silver for insurance than to make use constantly buy new ones? Just convert the gold to silver on those items... And instead of 40 silver for killing, the insurance silver goes to the killer. Thus the amount of time you spend in stat equates to the amount of time you need to spend farming up silver. I would also like to see roughly 10% of the gold dropped from killing a spawn champ converted to silver.

Winker spot on! i think they want us to pvm so they can remove factions altogether amazes me how ignorant devs are to UO in general they have no idea what it is (uo) im totally convinced.

Its probably now only going to be viable to have 1 faction char meaning 1 template and if your rank one you can forget 50k a month on what i can only assume will be the orny.

Two changes required either up the timer to 3 - 6 months or reduce silver costs dramatically unless you are going let us recieve 5k silver per kill because this system is impossible to maintain.

The champ loyalty is crap too i dont pvm but surely that would restrict people's characters.

Love the insurance idea thats brilliant and totally workable! not so sure about the killer getting all of it maybe a percentage but tons better than this mess.

My initial thought is the new faction artifact prices are too high. A player is at rank 1 for one of three reasons: 1) they are new to factions, 2) they are an inexperienced/poor PvPer, or 3) they hid in trammel and use the items for PvM. I think the moonbound property solves issue 3. But I think the side effect of the high silver costs for low-level factioneers will deter them from PvPing and instead force them to PvM farm for silver. This is the opposite of what we want... For factioneers to participate in PvP.

Might I suggest the devs scale the players faction artifact costs based not on faction rank but instead on a ratio of how much time their character spends in combat in felucca based ruleset areas compared to combat in trammel ruleset areas.

Why no Spirit of the Totem for Gargoyles? Just make it a pair of gargish glasses with the same mods. The rest of the head gear could be treated the same way except the Hunter's Headdress would have +20 throwing instead of archery.

What about adding a faction Breastplate of the Berserker and faction Insane Tinker Leggings? Seems like these and a faction Tangle would be good adds for completeness of the faction artifact selection.

If it's going to change in this fashon, any chance before publish you can look at faction monsters and consider making the silver have to be looted instead of dropping to pack? (and perhaps have a bit more per monster) With the increased cost and the artifacts no longer lasting forever, with the current silver gathering system, I can see the AFK silver scripters getting ALLL over this and making a fortune, it's already almost entirely afk scripted by the players who gather silver as it is but this will make them insanely profitable. (faction pvpers don't want to farm silver, they want to fight, so it'll all just be purchased in bulk not caring about how it was gotten)

Also (pipe dream here) It would be cool if the city control factored into this, like the more cities your faction controls the more the silver cost is reduced

Ok, I got it. You are talking about Siege. My recommendation to scale faction artifacts based on a ratio of ones combat in Felucca vs Trammel stands. I think this is the most objective way to tier silver costs.

Hehe. Yeah. The notes don't say if the trade ministers accept commodity deeds, as is now possible with the community collection representatives. Hopefully they do.

And when I see the reference to the stables in Minoc, I automatically think of Barter Town on Siege.

easy but incredibly time consuming, which of course leads it to being afkd. Just find a room full of daemons stealth and wait while your cu does all the work :/ Which is why I posted above, if they're going to continue to force a pvm activity in a pvp system at least tweak it so actual players can compete with those doing it afk, and maybe even allow non-faction peeps to farm it off the faction monsters so we can just buy it from them..

If you dont want to get the silver yourself, just buy it off someone.

Noone is forcing Pvm on pvpers. Again, Factions and PvP are not about Faction Arties. If you want free artifacts, then work for it.

My existing gear that I have on TC still requires rank. This may be intended but I thought I should point it out. Also all of my existing gear went to 250/250 durability.

Is this related to what is happening with the Bioware Patch right now? I am trying to log-in to the game but the patch is downloading and has been stuck at 15% for the past ten minutes?

Update: - - Patched finally reached 100% done as I typed this. What was that all about?

I wouldn't be alarmed by it sticking at 15%, That percentage is the total done. Mine is stuck at 14% right now but thats because it's downloading a 76MB file and 71Mb file at the same time. It won't move from 14% until they are done downloading.

Err... I just updated two Classic Clients, and each was a 174 meg update....

Err... I just updated two Classic Clients, and each was a 174 meg update....
Same for me (174 MB patch). Only took a few minutes too. Logged in all right, although there was a little bit of a delay when I thought it wasn't going to go through.

What are you going on about? Factions - AGAIN - ISNT ABOUT THE GEAR. You can be factions without the faction artifacts, and you can pvp with never even touching the things.

Only if you want to use essentially free stuff. You can always pay someone for the real version of the artie. Just like pvmers have to pay pvpers for scrolls. Its balanced.

They ARE making it fair! It was unfair before wasnt it? Factioners got esentially FREE artifacts. Now they will have to actually replace them every month, AND pay more Silver.

It balances it out now

Does the killer get full silver and then up to three participants get 40 for each kill, or is this a flat 40 for anyone participating whether or not they get the kb?
IMO, the way the system should work is that through normal faction competition you would (assuming mediocre performance) be able to amass the silver needed to maintain your gear. This encourages players to go out and fight. If normal players aren't reaching the needed amount from normal gameplay they will have to supplement through farming (hooray mindless pvm) or RMT.
I do not take any issue with the statement that you do not require the faction artifacts to participate in factions...but if our goal is to have systems that players actually use I wonder how effective this ends up being. It will reduce the usage of faction gear in non-fel rulesets.

I prefer to have a system which could support the armour on pvp alone seen as factions is a pvp system and pvm can suplement this if the player is unable to meet the requirements through pvp or just starting factions.

Either CC or EC, they sort of lack ... a building .

Seriously though - suggests to me the Publish isn't quite on TC yet ... may explain Storm's issue as well...

Maybe the Magincia trade minister is waiting for donations so the building/shanty/canopy can be erected?

Just a thought... maybe cost should also scale based on towns owned as well, and that sort of thing. Might give a reason for base fighting? i dunnoo.....
